Aqua Teen Hunger Force: Volume 1 (DVD)
Watch Master Shake, Frylock, and Meatwad, three people-sized food products in the throes of adolescence, solve mysteries and swim in their neighbor's pool.]]>
Another cracked animated series from the Cartoon Network's "Adult Swim" programming block, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Volume One's blend of superhero action and skewed humor should provide plenty of nourishment to fans of offbeat animation. The Aqua Teen Hunger Force are a squabbling trio of fast-food items (milkshake, fries, and a ball of hamburger meat) that have joined together to fight a host of monsters, aliens, and mad scientists in their native New Jersey. Fans of traditional cartoons may find the surreal plotlines and low-fi animation unmanageable, but viewers who enjoy other Adult Swim programming like Space Ghost Coast to Coast (series creators Chris Willis and Matt Maiellaro are veterans from that show) will find the Force's adventures side-splitting. The two-disc set, which features 16 episodes from the series' first two seasons, is supplemented by commentary by Willis and Maiellaro on three episodes, including an early version of "Rabbot." Disc 2 has a pair of Easter eggs that feature deleted scenes. --Paul Gaita

Crazy to say maybe but they were the first thing I laughed at, after I suffered a recent loss. I grew up with these guys on Adult Swim, and even after a decade they are still so ridiculously funny, I hope I'll keep on laughing at them till I croak.
Keep on being stupid and funny Hunger Force!
enthralled by it's sheer dada- esque insanity, the best episodes still
transcend to inspired levels of bizarre, gross, tweaked humor.
When your starting premise is a giant talking shake, fries, and wad of
meat living in New Jersey, how wrong can you go?
It can be hit or miss, but the best episodes ('MC Pee Pants', 'Love
Mummy', 'Dumber Dolls' from season 1, 'The Clowning', 'Total Recarl'
and 'The Last One' from season 3, 'Video Ouija', 'Dusty Gazongas' and
'Hypno Germ' from season 4) rise to a sublime level of hysterical
absurdity, where you're both laughing and shaking your head at the
audacity and bravery of the storytelling.
If you like strange, gonzo humor (Monty Python would be my generation's
touchstone) and/or way out-there adult animation, you owe it to yourself to
give this a try -- and give it a couple of episodes to let your head
get into what the creators are doing.
Dumb (the disc, not the show.... nevermind).
But, it only took that first episode to get me hooked, it's absurd and hilarious, unlike anything I've seen before or since. In the first couple episodes they do seem to be sort of detectives, but then they just seem to elapse into three guys (who aren't really teens) who hang around. They rent a house, with two bedrooms, no bathroom. They swim in their sweat-pants wearing neighbor, Carl's pool (without his permission) who's had his house up for sale ever since they've moved in.
Frylock (the french fry) is the smartest, kind of like a father, or big brother to Master Shake and Meatwad. Master Shake (my favourite character) is the smart-ass. He's greedy and always coming up with schemes and picking on poor Meatwad, who's the dumbest (yet cutest). While they're hanging out at home, they encounter inter-galactic villians, who are usually really stupid. Like Emory and Oglethorpe who came once to steal the Aqua Teen's cable. The Mooninites, The Digital Ruler, Inignot and his sidekick Err(who live on the moon)are recurrent characters, real egomaniacs who are always claiming their superiority, when they're generally very cowardly. The show is well written, really funny and very unique. One of the only shows that has made me laugh out loud. Thank you Amazon for having them available, great price too! (at least I think so)
