My motherboard's Ethernet card would induce stuttering on my system because it was only able to use two RSS queues. where as this one can use a maximum of 8. This helped me distribute the data stream more evenly across my processor as I am using a threadripper.
This card is able to get up to the same 313Mbps with 9ms ping that my previous card was capable of receiving, just minus any stuttering that I was experiencing. I don't have the incoming internet speed to test the higher speeds of this card but it does appear the 1Gbps level is functioning properly. I will update this review with any quirks or experiences I have as I continue to use this card.
Some things that might work if you cant install the drivers:
Remove the card and then try installing the drivers.
Use a clean install of windows 10 and then install the drivers on a temporary hard drive on the same computer.
Then transplant the resulting registry keys and driver files created under C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\ from the fresh install of windows to your current install of windows.
I also would like to say that the company worked very closely with me during this time and are very patient and genuine. I would gladly deal with their customer service again.
I tried purchasing this card for more RSS queues because my existing Ethernet card was only capable of 2.
I had high hopes for this card but the drivers for this car refuse to install on windows 10 1803.
Until I get drivers that will actually install I have to give this one star because I cant use it.
I even turned off my anti-virus and firewall and tired running the installer again.
I also attempted allowing windows update to install them and that failed as well.
Edit: The card is incompatible with my computer because the drivers don't support X399 motherboards. after going back and forth with support they said that after testing the card with their own X399 motherboard (one that was a different manufacturer from mine) that they couldn't get the card to start.
If you have X399 look elsewhere.
Edit 2: They said a couple hours after the previous edit that they got the card running in their lab after some time and are having the engineers work on why the drivers arent installing for me.
Since the card won't connect without the driver in Windows 10, make sure you download the driver before moving from your existing NIC, if you are upgrading. You can also download the driver to another computer or device, and transfer it using a flash drive.
First off, for me, this is simply future proofing my PC in every way shape and form. Some motherboards actually come with the Aquantia 108 chipset on the motherboard (Thinking about the Fatal1ty pro gaming motherboard for the x370 ryzen AM4 lineup). So they share the same company. Had a friend switch from his intel nic to the aquantia to see if he saw a difference. He says when downloading he seems to get much higher download speeds but hasn't noticed anything in gaming. YET. I am going to have him download the command center like I did.... and help him tweak it to be just right (like me). (edit turns out the command center is only for this gaming product)
Now for me, I have an x370 board with only and intel nic. It only allows me two RSS queues (meaning it will only run dual core from network processing) while this Aquantia card, see's that I have an 8 core 16 thread cpu, and allows me to use all 8 cores (RSS queues will never use threads, its just how its setup to work). So essentially it can load balance better than onboard card. After some other tweaks, I have completely negated buffer-bloat on my system. The Intel nic would give me a score of B or C overall, F on buffer-bloat, and then A or B quality.
Now, I am using the gaming app (aka command center from aquantia) to set my games to "critical importance" so that they get the fastest network card use possible, so no matter whats running, rather it be music, streaming, or even discord or background apps that use internet, the game will always take priority, which means I will hit when I should. In two tests, PubG and CS:GO, I have noticed that when I shoot someone, it actually says i hit them. Many times before I would shoot someone and it would say I missed, even though I would watch the bullet tracer hit. Now, if I hit, I hit, no b/s. I have to give it to Aquantia, they make one hell of a product.
So if you are a gamer, who also wants to future proof their network for 2.5G, 5G, and 10G, and wants to dominate with better responsiveness to the game. Get this. I have used killer network cards before, and they always seem garbage, even their gaming app (which is supposed to allow you to prioritize network traffic) never seemed to work. AQUANTIA's DOES WORK. And it works perfectly. You simply drag the item to the box you want. So if you want CS:GO to be critically important, drag it to that spot, then pin it. Every time you launch the game it remembers that its critically important vs all other internet sources, and IT WORKS. I am flabbergasted at how awesome this chip is. I have heard complaints of other Aquantia chips "overheating" but I think those people don't know how to build computers, and probably suffer from poor airflow inside their pc case which causes the overheating. Now I have to use this card with a MOCA adapter as I am handicapped and stuck downstairs while the router is upstairs. My brother and father both get gigabit speeds (1000/1000) while my MOCA 2.0 (non bonded) only lets me run 400/400. I have set the command center to 350/350 (which it tells you to run about 90% of your total internet speed to ensure amazing results, they aint lying) and as such, I get perfect responsiveness.
Top international reviews
1. Card caused a one time hard lock up upon booting. Perhaps it was the card perhaps not.
2. Bigger issue, when directly connected (i.e. cross connected) to a Synology DS1817 NAS (10Gbe), the default NIC settings cause the connection to be unstable. You need to disable "Recv Segment Coalescing" in the Windows Device Manager driver settings to make the connection work. This is a known issue and documented on several forums. It took me 2 hours to find this answer ... and out of pure luck.
Until Aquantia resolves the Recv Segment Coalescing issue for cross connect connections I don't recommend the card although it is only one setting to change.
Potential someone may build one in the future from a github search but it seems to be a dead repo with no updates lately.
Will try with IPfire tomorrow and see if Linux driver support is any better. Otherwise seems good build quality and really good packaging.
Installed in Windows 10 PC, updated driver through Device Manager. No issues. I'm going to be getting more of these for my 10G clients at home.
iperf results weren't consistent, though that could be due to structured cabling. I've been able to easily saturate the disk I/O of my 10G server's drive array (~500MB/s reads and writes). I'm using an iSCSI target as bulk storage for Steam and Origin and that's working out very well with a 10G network.
Haven't tested compatibility with Windows Server or ESXi. It's not on the validated hardware list so I'd recommend sticking with Intel, Broadcom, or Mellanox if you're looking to upgrade the enterprise hardware in your office or home lab.
Purchased for 10GBE on laptop. That Sort of worked out.
Not compatible with all of my desktops. i specifically purchased this card because it was inexpensive, and has a x4 slot that can downlink to x1. (atleast on paper)

i noticed VERY high cpu demand, aka, i was CPU Limited on the 3470QM under windows 7, netting about 250-300MB/s transfer rate. enabling jumbo frames dropped cpu usage a bit, netting about 375MB/s
Test was done with windows file transfer from the W530 (AQ107) to the Z170XP-SLI Intel X540-T2 - confirmed to xfer at 99% of 10GBE - Not a limiting factor) from ramdisk to NVME SSD
would need to do further testing but time was limited so far. Mixed bag really, i wanted to be able to ditch the X540-T2 adapters which are very power hungry, run ridiculously hot, and are massive as well as require an actual x8 electrical otherwise they drop out.
Hopefully Aquantia develops better drivers for this card. at least for now it gives me a way to interface to the world with a link faster than 1gbit on my laptop.
Both are working great, Marvell picked up Aquantia a little while back and there is official ESXi 6.7 drivers available from VMware/Marvell these days for the ACN107 chip... there didn't used to be when these launched though as you had to use Beta drivers. I initially used the compiled Aquantia Beta drivers with ESXI 6.5, and then replaced them with the Marvell versions when i upgraded my host to 6.7, both driver versions worked fine for me in my testing.
Windows 10 just picked up the NIC fine and automatically installed the latest drivers, no issues there. ESXi obviously was a manual driver installation but it went smoothly as well. The only real problem i encountered was that i had to enable LRO manually on the VMXNET3 adapter in FreeBSD to get fast writes to FreeNAS but that's more a FreeBSD issue as it doesn't have direct access to the Aquantia NIC to see that it needed to be enabled.
With my environment I can saturate the 10Gb link with full 1.09Gb/s transfers to a SMB FreeNAS share running on ESXi when uploading from my NVMe storage on Windows 10. Performance for my environment and use case is great and at a fraction of the price of Intel's X550 NIC's so for me was a great buy. Would i still tend to gravitate towards Intel NICs for a production environment? Probably, but for home use these are fantastic.
I bought the adapter with NetGear GS110MX. Plugged in the PCI-E slot and it is really to go.
Note: In my case, Cat 6 only works at 5G rate, I changed the cable to the cat 7 and got everything works as expected.

うちの中に閉じた環境での帯域測定ですが、PC〜(10G x 1で直結)〜VyOSルータ〜(10G x 1で直結)〜L2SW〜(10G x 2でLAG)〜NASのreadで約9.9Gbps。。。2枚の本製品を経由したルーティングが入っても、ほぼワイヤーでました(@_@)
