Product Description

Product Overview

Ever wished your camera was waterproof? Well don't worry, you don't need to go splashing out on an expensive waterproof camera, all you need is an Aquapac. With one of these ingenious but inexpensive cases you can take photos not just in the rain but underwater too (for up to half an hour, to a depth of as much as 30ft).

With the Aquapac you'll be able to photograph safely wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do.

Product Features and Benefits

The Aquapac is made of a thin but remarkably tough material called TPU. Thin enough that you can operate all the controls normally. While the optically-clear acrylic lens makes for great image quality. Even underwater. Put "Shot using Aquapac" into your search engine and you'll find loads of images taken by customers through their Aquapacs.

The patented Aquaclip® sealing system opens and closes with a simple twist of three levers. And everything stays in one piece even when open.

The case is quite light - only 9.6oz including the comfortable shoulderstrap.

This is a great, affordable invention but of course would be even better if it came in lens sizes. With an 85mm lens there is way too much wiggle room in the lens covering to shoot without keeping a hand on it to make it taut. With a 24mm lens, forget about it. I think one is supposed to be able to collapse the lens covering down around itself when using a shorter lens but it doesn't stay collapsed.

Here are my ten tips to having success with the Aquapac bag:

1. If you at all plan on shooting underwater you need to be wearing goggles or a diving mask if you want be able to look through the view finder.

2. I would only use a prime lens because of how much wiggle room is in the bag over the lens portion. I'd want to be able to rubber band the bag exactly right and then leave it alone, which I don't think you can do with an adjustable lens.

3. Get your settings right before you put the camera into the bag. For a bright day, ISO of 800, f/11.0 and a shutter of 1/1000 worked well for me.

4. When you're putting your camera in, be very gentle when inching the lens cover portion over your lens. It's easy to throw the lens switch from auto to manual while putting the camera into the bag.

5. Unless your lens is 100+ mm and takes up all of the space, you'll need an extra-wide rubber band, like the kind that come wrapped around newspapers. Inch the lens portion of the plastic down until the hard lens cover meets your lens, and then rubber band it around the soft plastic portion to hold the bag to your camera.

6. It's absolutely necessary that you put all 3 moisture absorbing packets into the camera bag when you're using it, or the lens will fog and you can't focus and can't see.

My husband and I purchased this case before our trip to Florida and it was well worth it!!! The camera was well protected from the sand and water! The pictures taken on our snorkle trip in the key were amazing. I would recommend this case to anyone going to the beach, pool or who have children. I am very excited about summer with my waterproof case!

It's a very good case, feel you can put the camera into the water, is a bit difficult to operate the controls but I'm very happy with this case.

I am a professional wedding photograher. I used this to photograph a couple getting married during the Warrior Dash 5k mud run. I ran, swam, rolled in dirt, climbed walled, and went head deep in thick GA red clay. My 5d stayed perfectly dry and safe. The only issue I had is that it is difficult to make setting changes quickly, or to use a zoom. It was a tight fit for my 5d, but I used it with a 50mm lens. I used a pony tail holder around the outside of the bag to hold everything tight in place. It was impossible for me to get this bag completely clean after my mud run, however it allowed me to capture priceless images and keep my gear safe. For the price is it well worth it even if you get only one use out of it.

I bought this case on faith hoping it would work like it was supposed to. I was taking a trip to Lake Powell and wanted an underwater case I could trust. This had the best reviews I could find on amazon so i bought it. Well folks, after a week at the lake and a few friends swimming pools this case has truly impressed me. I was nervous about three switches at the top being the only thing between my rebel T2i and the water, but the case never let in as much as a drop of water. Yes, the controls are tough to work while in the case, but if you just set them up before you put the camera in the bag you shouldn't have problems. This case has made me a happy camper.

I got this for snorkeling in Hawaii and it worked just as I wanted. The case created a great barrier against sand and water. No moisture ever got in and I was super surprised how well it went. There was only one problem and it was operator error, I ended up not tightening one of the screws all the way and even then only moisture accumulated. Even under water it preformed great, I was only able to maneuver it with my 18-55mm lens but the pictures turned out stunning. It is a great alternative to the $1,000 professional housing unit. If only it was able to go to deeper depths I would be golden. All in all I am super satisfied with this case and my purchase.

This is by far the easiest, most affordable, and best way to waterproof an SLR camera. I used this case on a 10 day kayaking trip around the south coast of Crete and my camera worked perfectly. It kept out water, salt, sand, and rocks exactly as advertised. The case takes some getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it isn't too difficult.

The only reason I am not rating this a 5 is because it does not come with a cap for the lens. Without a cap the lens case is prone to water droplets and water stains as well as dust that can diminish the quality of the picture. I had to improvise by putting a plastic zip-lock bag over the lens part of the case held on by a rubber band. It worked well enough, but a true cap would have been handy.
