Product Overview

Ever wished your camera was waterproof? Well don't worry, you don't need to go splashing out on an expensive waterproof camera, all you need is an Aquapac. With one of these ingenious but inexpensive cases you can take photos not just in the rain but underwater too (for up to half an hour, to a depth of as much as 30ft).

Catch the splash as your kids jump in the pool. Record your friends sailing, swimming, or surfing. With the Aquapac you'll be able to photograph safely wherever you want to go, whatever you want to do.

Product Features and Benefits

The Aquapac is made of a thin but remarkably tough material called TPU. Thin enough that you can operate all the controls normally. While the optically-clear LENZFLEXTM lens material makes for great image quality. Even underwater. Put "Shot using Aquapac" into your search engine and you'll find loads of images taken by customers through their Aquapacs.

The patented Aquaclip® sealing system opens and closes with a simple twist of three levers. And everything stays in one piece even when open.

The case is quite light - only 5.8oz including the comfortable shoulderstrap.

Extended Warranty

Aquapac combines an unrivalled Full 5-Year Warranty* with exceptional after-sales service. We very much doubt you'll get anything like it from any other brand.

(*According to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act 1975 a warranty must be described as either "Full" or "Limited". These terms are very strictly defined.)

Waterproof cases are so expensive! (and heavy) We aren't divers, but spend lots of time outdoors in conditions hostile to electronics, skiing, hiking, fishing, at the beach, etc. In addition to water, dirty hands, sand, and dust are hazards.

This Aquapac performs as described, kept the camera (Canon A95) safe and dry despite immersion in swimming pool etc. The picture quality was unaffected, but flash doesn't work well due to internal reflections.

Well worth the price.

I read the other review on here and thought, "Nah, he just had bad luck." All the other reviews I read were very good, so I thought I'd give this a try for my trip to Maui. I tested the bag exactly as the instructions said.. I even squeezed it a tiny bit to look for bubbles. Everything looked great, so I popped my actual camera in there and went snorkeling yesterday.

On the plus side, my pictures turned out amazing. I had no idea it would work so much better than those awful disposable waterproof cameras. I have several shots of swimming along side a sea turtle that may be poster-worthy.

On the down side, after about 30 minutes I got out of the ocean and noticed a small puddle of water was INSIDE the bag! My camera was still on and working, so I was hopeful. But by the time I was back inside the hotel, things started looking bad. It refused to turn on at all. After a thorough drying, it will now power on, but the lens doesn't seem to move and there is an error code displayed. It keeps flashing a message telling me to power the camera off/on again. Nothing works.

I did not dive down below the surface at all. This leakage happened just from snorkeling along the surface, holding the camera only 1-2 feet underwater.

I highly recommend AGAINST getting this not-so-waterproof camera bag. But at $240, I can't see buying Canon's official waterproof case either. Maybe there just isn't a good solution here. Don't sacrifice your camera like I did though.

Now, to call and try to get it replaced under the guarantee...

I used this with a canon powershot A80 and a samsung digimax S85. Both cameras fit and the bag kept them bone dry during a week long snorkelling excursion.

I got some great underwater videos but there were limitations to using this model bag with two smallish telescoping zoom cameras. As previously noted there were issues wih the zoom lense opening, so I too McGyver'd up a hotel styrophome cup into a zoom protector. This did fix the zoom lense opening, but the problem is still that wrinkles in the plastic distort the image. Underwater it is also difficult to view the LCD screen through the plastic so most of the time its just point-n-pray. On my cameras it was also sometimes difficult to know if I had clicked the button to take a picture / start a video.

The pictures without the wrinkled lense were of remarkable clarity, and the videos were even better. About 50% of the pictures came out nice, and probably 80% of the video clips. The plastic was pliable enough to make hitting the buttons and switching the dials on the camera no problem.

In hindsight I realize the bag wasn't designed for my cameras though and I wish I wasn't so cheap and spent a little more money on the 420 model which has a fixed lense holder.

I bought another pack from this company (BeltPac), and while I did test the pack as described in the instructions, the pack leaked when I used it in the sea, destroying my phone and my mp3 player. I contacted Aquapac, as they claim to have a warranty if the pack if used apropriately, but they refused to refund me the pack or the content that was destroyed (MP3 player + phone).

BEWARE WHEN YOU BUY ON OF THESE PACKS: EVEN IF YOU FOLLOW ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS, THE PACK MAY LEAK AND THE COMPANY WILL REFUSE TO REFUND YOU.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!

This little camera case (like other Aquapac cases) bills itself as waterproof. NOT SO. It if fine for using your inexpensive camera at the beach. It will protect from splashing, sand, salt, etc. BUT do not try submerging with this.

Real waterproof housings cost a bundle (sometimes more than the camera) for a reason. If water can find a way to get in, it will.

I have used this case -- perfectly happily -- with my rinky-dink digital camera around water. But without even submerging, water did get into the case. It is simply not waterproof -- nor is it designed to be. A simple visual examination told me before I ever used the case that it could not possibly be airtight or watertight. Again, no problem if all you want to do is splash around.

It goes without saying that the US government is not regulating terms like "waterproof" so Aquapac is free to say this without actually risking any legal liability.
