Specs for this siphon are almost impossible to find: diameter of vacuum tub and diameter of siphon hose. Length is 6 ft as shown on package (images are searchable on the web) and is also indicated here: http://www.aqueonproducts.com/products/siphon-vaccum.htm

On the siphon I purchased from Amazon (to use in tight spaces on my reef tank), the diameter of the tube is .75 inch on the outer tube and just under that for the "adjustable" inner tube. Okay, smaller than what seems to the indicated as 1.3 inch on Aqueon's site but since I wanted a narrower tube than the 16" Large siphon (actually measuring 2" on my tube and not the 1.8 inches indicated on Aqueon's site) I gave it a trial today when doing a water change on my 65g tank.

My trial was short-lived! In fact, after 5 minutes the thing stopped working - dead! How?
- Valve in the vacuum tube jammed closed
- Could not get it restarted manually nor even after attempting flushing it in my bathtub where I am setup for maintaining all the PWC gear for my reef.

This gets returned today. Shame on you Aqueon for making specs impossible to find and for marketing and selling an inferior product that should be a no-brainer. Siphon's for water changes are not rocket science engineering and customer service seems MIA.

Wanted a siphon with a bucket clip. Siphons up a storm, thus pulls up my Eco-complete gravel (which is easily disturbed to begin with). So it does work great, just too big for my tank. Would likely work great in any bigger tank. It does a great job of draining water out for replacement.

Pros:
- Extends
- Simple to start the vacuum
- Comes with a clip to aid in one-person operation

Cons:
- Aquarium gravel *always* gets sucked up and clogs the unit. If the mouth were a little wider, there wouldn't be enough suction to get the gravel all the way up, and it would work as intended.

the barrel is a little small and it likes to clog a little easier than i like
works well in smaller 5,10 gallon tanks

It works but it takes some work to get it going. Overall though did what it was supposed to.

Howdy folks:
I do not recommend this product. it picks gravel up and they get stuck in the end. constantly having to pick rocks out of siphon. will work good for changing water though.

It seemed like a good idea but in actual use the extendable tube doesn't work as easily as you would think.

When I bought this, I didn't realize that it doesn't have a pump bulb. This makes it very difficult to get the water going with the "up and down" action that the package suggests. The narrow design of the intake tube would be OK if there was a pump to eject the gravel and get the siphon going again. Instead, every time the tube fills up, you have to take the tube up to let out the gravel, and then get the siphon going again with the stupid "up and down" motion. Whoever thought that it was smart to leave out the pump bulb is a colossal idiot and should be fired.
