The size is also minimal, maybe a couple of fish bowls or so. It is easy to clean and easy to maintain. It may make a great underwater terrarium of sorts (plants only). Goldfish can outgrow this tank eventually.
It does not include the plants or stones in the picture, nor does it come with gravel.
Tank works out of the box. Is attractive. Comes with sample water treatment and food as a prep course in caring for the tank, but they are small so when you get your first fish make sure to get more food. And read online about setting up a fish tank. Some great youtube videos and online advice that makes it easier to do.
This is a good way for someone to get into the fish tank game without committing to a much larger investment and something that requires much greater dedication to the hobby. This will require minimal cleaning and minimal fish care, so if you cannot take this tank, you will not take care of a bigger one. Seen plenty of folks go out after seeing a tank and buying the entire sh-bang just to sell it used a year later, and having many fish die.
My granddaughter wanted a "pet" and her parents and I felt that a simple fish would be the best way to introduce her to caring for a pet that didn't need to be walked daily or litter constantly scooped. Yes, we realize that the water will need changing but that doesn't happen multiple times per day.
This is a quiet unit and the added bonus is that since it's in her bedroom, it acts as booth a night light and also a Sound Soother to make White Noise from the pump. We added aquarium specific plants and used large marbles in the base vs. stones, which are far harder to keep clean and become nasty and slimy with age.
For the cost and what you receive, this is a great way to introduce a cost effective pet into your young child's life.
