I wanted to add that my son is now almost 11 and this dart board is still going strong!!! It gets played with on almost a daily basis. We had to replace a couple of the dart tips last year (a few dollars), but otherwise we've had no problems at all.
I also bought a Halex Crossfire from Walmart for about the same price (around $30 after tax) and it seems much nicer. Comes with nicer darts, has a better mounting system that locks the board to the wall, has a better display and has a cabinet so you can conceal the board when not in use.
The electronics work well, the darts stick well (so well that it takes considerably more effort than you'd expect to pull them out).
The battery door snapped off right away, but a little electric tape took care of that. Overall I'm pleased with this purchase.
The basic nature of this board is a strong point for the price point but also a weakness. The sounds are pretty simple and there is no voice. The screen while functional and fairly easy to read and interpret is painfully simple and basic. It only displays one players score and closed out sections at a time.
The game list has all of the standard games but feels a bit anemic in comparison to my much older board which had basically all of the same games/options and more.
It is only powered by 2x AA batteries even though the included booklet says it requires 3x AA batteries. There is no option for using an AC adaptor but considering the simple nature of the screen and the sounds I believe a set of batteries should last a decent amount of time. Although the volume isn't too loud, there doesn't seem to be any volume control that I've seen.
Finally although the mounting is easy, it is limited to one way to mount it and it is a poorer way than I would hope. It mounts with two screws(not provided) that sit roughly behind the #1 and #5 spots. While it holds well, I would have preferred another mounting screw on the bottom of the board to improve stability.Read more ›
