Why is it that the professors of 100-years-ago seem to be more thoughtful (i.e., there is a difference between wise and intelligent) than many of the "hip" professors 'teaching' at the universities of today?
I especially liked his examination of the basic elements of art and how motivation and goodness really do have a place in evaluating the eternal value of artwork.
I recommend this book for anyone who struggles with creating artwork from a contrived execution (e.g., controvery for the sake of controversy or "coolness") -- as well as those who desire clarity when the marketing or fashionable (i.e. profitable) influences put pressure on their creative natures.
