I read this to my 6-year-old son at bedtime. It took us awhile to get through it because he is so young. Some nights we read less than a chapter. He is very detail oriented and more willing to sit through chapter books than his 4 older siblings were and I confess I am leaning toward books that hold my interest too, since he is willing to listen. In other words, this book is not for most 6-year-olds, I'd say 4th or 5th grade would be a good jumping off point.

We, my son, husband and I all enjoyed this book. While it has the other world fantasy setting you'd find in books like the Narnia chronicles or Harry Potter, Sandru weaves a balance between fantasy and sci-fi in a way I haven't seen before. The children in the book find themselves "magically" transported to another world while performing an experiment at a school science fair. Throughout the book the children use scientific problem solving to make sense of their odd situation and to figure ways to get home. As a parent I was cheered to see my son glom on to a story that showed children he could relate to use their heads in such an intelligent manner. These characters did not weakly stand by and let fate take the reigns. Despite very frightening situations they did not give up.

This book is fun to read. The illustrations are wonderful. Parents can be sure that their children will come away from reading this with a better grasp on how to approach problem solving. And the reader may even step away with a better understanding of Quantum Physics.

This is the beginning of a series. The second book is not available yet. We were sad to see it end without the ability to grab the other book and start right away. So, we are also learning patience here.

I don't care if you are a youth or an adult, this book is a great read! I like the sci-fi and fantasy type books but this one was completely captivating. Once I started it I couldn't put it down. It held my attention through all the trials and adventures of the four teens the story is built around. I can't wait for the next book in the series. Based on this first book, I'm going to follow this series through to the end.

Excellent reading for the young and not-so-young at heart. An inspired blend of classic Grimms and Ispirescu fairy tales style, with a touch of old country myths.
This absorbing lecture, illustrated with original paintings by the author, is sure to become a best seller.

I am 11 years old, and this book blows my mind at how good it is. I love the adventure, suspense and the creativity in this book. I like how he used Hellferata in the story. I read this book in two days, and I decided to make something special out of this epic book. I am making the full-scale model of the Lorn tree with all the details on a game I play called Minecraft. I am recording it on my Youtube. Here's the link: [...]

I am looking foward to the next book and I cant wait to make a another game out of it.

So far this book is very captivating and I can't wait until I read it all. I'm looking forward to reading it to my children as soon as they are old enough (they are only three now). I will post again as soon as I finish reading it.

Bought this book for my friend's son as a birthday gift but could not resist to read it first. And I am glad I did. What a refreshing take on fantasy and imagination. The only bad thing about the book is that I have stained a couple of pages while reading... but my friend's son did not mind it at all. Also, I am going to order all the illustrations from the book, simply beautiful. Check this web site: arboregal.com
