Much of my work requires tracking and observing animals while trying to remain concealed and not stand out like blue jeans would against the desert rocks, so I chose the "Driftwood" color. The craftsmanship is superb, especially considering these are now made in china (sadly). Crotch gusset is a very nice feature, as are the double front knees. These pants fit a slightly slimmer than Carhartt Washed Duck / Canvas Work Pants; though some people say those fit extremely loosely. Initially upon taking them out of the packaging they looked huge, after a wash and wearing them over the past few days they are now my favorite work pants. Though I do have some concern about breathability (these are heavy pants) during the 120 degree summer heat, but only time will tell. It was 90 degrees yesterday ( Seriously, 90 in January!!) and they did just fine when working in the sun taking a flat tire off of a John Deere 570B maintainer.
The differences, however, make this a better pair of pants for me:
The cotton canvas is softer and more comfortable from the very beginning - a stark contrast to Carhartts duck canvas which can be stiff as a board.
No rivets, no hammer loop and bigger back pockets.
The gusset gives more room to move around and I have plenty of room for my thighs. But with the slight taper the Arborwear achieve a nice silhouette - no more super-baggy work pants.
