I had a lot of fun reading this novel and cheering the unusual group of heroes and heroines on. It's a solid horror novel that's suitable for teenagers and adults alike as there is not that much gore, no excessive swearing and no sexual encounters (yes, good books can shine without all of that). 5 stars! - Reader's Favorite
ARCADIA FALLS by Ken Stark is a stellar young adult horror tale with elements of suspense, mystery, history and romance, along with a touch of humor in just the right places. - Carol Marrs Phipps
Ken's knack of writing is mind blowing, with a mixture of humor and horror combined you will fall in love with this book fast. - Zane Summerfield
About the Author
Ken Stark is a horror fiction writer from Vancouver, Canada, and author of the award-winning Stage 3 series of books. Why horror? Because whether it's through the utter destruction of civilization as we know it or a man alone with his demons, there is no better way to shine a light on the best and worst of mankind's nature than against a dark backdrop. And hey, if it happens to give the world nightmares along the way, that's a win-win.

Something sinister is definitely happening in Arcadia Falls. The questions are: what is preying on the towns residents, and why don't people remember friends and family gone missing? The answer will shock you!
This chilling read features a diverse cast of high school teenagers with the courage and smarts to solve the mystery. Stark puts us in the center of the action with great descriptions of Old Towne and the creatures stalking Tyler and his group of friends. What I enjoyed most about this story was that it unites young and old alike, coming together for a greater good. Stark conveys the importance of listening and team building by showing us first how the teenagers open up to each other and then trust a few adults- who take the teenagers claims of Old Towne to heart. Together they go on a hunt for what lurks in Old Towne and takes children from Arcadia Falls.
Fans of Stark's zombie apocalypse series, Stage 3 will enjoy this new young adult thriller complete with the author's classic doses of creepy horror that he unleashes on readers until the very end!
Ken’s knack of writing is mind blowing, with a mixture of humor and horror combined you will fall in love with this book fast.
It is for the younger adult but hey I’m…let me just say I’m well over 40 and I found this book exhilarating, enjoying and one that I couldn’t put down until I’d finished it.
Reading this reminded me of my own last year of high school due to how well Ken Stark encompasses such realism within the book. All the usual high school stuff from the nerdy nerds to the popular groups.
The unlikeliest group end up banding together and go on this whirlwind journey that has you turning pages faster than you’ve ever done before. A small town with history, a mystery that needs solving and a shadow so dark and gloomy that has you sitting on the edge of your seat.
You’ll have to read this baby to find out what is causing all the missing people to vanish with the added calamity of not knowing who is missing because you don’t remember them.
Mr. Stark’s teens were intelligent, filled with legitimate worries about their lives and friends, and acted and behaved in a believable fashion. In fact, I read through the first several chapters and began to forget they had a “horror” awaiting them. I found myself completely engrossed in their lives. The angst of sitting next to your crush, talking to her or him, and having to live with whatever weird came out of your mouth, Mr. Stark captures all those feelings brilliantly. When the “horror” finally arrived, I found myself surprised because I’d been so caught up in their day to day lives.
I’d love to thank Mr. Stark for adding in adults and making those adults open and understanding. The “adults who never believe kids” trope has been overused and abused. I must believe that there are other adults besides myself that would listen to kids even if they don’t believe them. Even if it’s for the sole purpose to find out why the kids believe what they do. I often see authors use this as the easy way to push kids into their own adventure. I loved that Stark used these adults to assist the teens but still let the teens run the show.
Stark brought his own unique flair to the zombie genre with the Stage 3 series, and he doesn’t disappoint with Arcadia Falls. He creates a threat straight out of your worst nightmares. It’s more than just nightmare creatures, though. It’s also the effect they have on the community they’re terrorizing. Such a horrific idea and Stark executes it so well. (No, I won’t give more away. You’ll have to read it.) Stark finds the familiar in something and then twists it into something different and makes it his own, but with Arcadia Falls he takes it a step further and creates something, unlike anything we’ve ever seen.
Great characters, brilliant plot, and wonderful writing. His words paint a vivid picture of the horror that awaits us in Arcadia Falls. I can’t recommend this novel enough.
Arcadia Fall is a suspenseful, seat-of-your-pants read with a charming, though somewhat unusual, group of high school teenagers. These young adults are faced with a mystery, one that has haunted the town since its conception. However, between them, they have intelligence, courage, and teamwork not only to solve the mystery but to put an end to what has plagued this quiet little town for centuries.
Stark proves, once again, he is a talented writer and a diverse one at that in this winning read.
