"This guide to creating architectural models with Autodesk's popular modeling, animation and rendering application, 3ds Max, provides a collection of lessons for designing sample room visualization projects and rendering them with the V-Ray rendering engine. The work begins with an overview of software functions and modeling and rendering theory and continues with four sample projects including a loft apartment in daylight, a bathroom, a bedroom at night and a simple house exterior. Chapters provide step-by-step instructions and numerous screen shots and a CD-ROM containing all project files is included."--Reference and Research Book News
"The tutorials in this book are filled with beautiful full-color images and they teach you how to light both interiors and exteriors, and daytime and nighttime scenes, and more. The companion CD includes all the project files that you need to recreate each of the projects presented in this book."--NeoPopRealism

I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn how to do photo-realistic renderings.
the author goes through the settings for exterior and interior rendering
but often times does not say why he is using a particular setting
this is the only thing that this book is lacking
i highly recommend it for beginners who wants to jump in and produce a good render
If you have a basic knowledge on V-Ray stay away from this book. If you don't, stay away all the same.
yes it is a good book , but it will tell steps how to do materials ,but not always telling why you do this?
another thing , the author should review the book before sending to publisher,
1- some options are selected in the figures , but he is not telling to select them in the paragraph.
2- some objects and materials are named in figures , differently as compared in the paragraph.
3- one main thing , in chapter 4 bedroom at night. to start the project, you will import the scene from autocad file , in return to 3ds max file , you will not find layers( 01_wall_glassblocks_glass, 01_wall_glassblocks_joint) , because these layers in autocad file are empty!! for me I took these layers from the completed exercise , import them back to autocad then to the starting file in 3ds max , to begin the project.
