A very nice primer on contemporary architecture, good selection of buildings

A very nicely presented book fit for those who just started looking into architecture and its history. Twenty-five buildings are given the same treatment: a bunch of exterior and interior shots, and a large number of design documents, e.g. sketches, 3D rendered images, photographs of raw materials used, maps, and so on, all properly explained. The best part is that some very, very different projects were selected for the book. There's a cosy modernist Dutch villa built out of 60% recycled materials, an experimental World Expo pavillion, expensive and very expensive private homes of all kinds, a boat house, and most incredibly, a restoration project - the Neues Museum in Berlin - complete with restoration studies and drawings.

While probably just a bit too technical for a casual reader, this book will certainly appeal to anyone who's at least a bit interested in how architecture actually happens.
