Streamlined, lightweight down hoody filled with 850 white goose down. This backcountry specialist hoody is intended as a mid layer or standalone piece in cool, dry conditions.
Putting Down Where it Counts
Strategic placement of synthetic and down insulation has Coreloft synthetic insulation, that retains warmth when wet, placed along the shoulders, collar, sleeves and underarms - areas prone to contact with moisture. 850 fill European Goose down lines the core and sleeves where warmth is most needed.
Streamlined and lightweight, the Cerium LT down hoody is filled with 850 white goose down, intended to act as a mid-layer under a shell, or a standalone piece for cold, dry conditions. A three part sleeve moves freely and keeps a low profile.
Specialized construction: light, elasticized hem; three part sleeve; binding finishes and superior craftsmanship are the thoughtful attention to detail that allows the use of stronger fabrics that can stand up to everyday use. This is a piece you will want to live in.

Because of that, it looks super dirty and not clean, even if it is brand new. I wrote to Arc'teryx customer support today about that to get it exchanged. This is not normal to get something like that from a High-End company such as Arc'teryx.
I've now used it skiing in Utah and walking around in the MN winter. I'd say jacket alone is fine 20 - 35 degrees. Adding a shell, makes it bomber proof 0 & up. Bulk up your base layer & I'm sure you could go lower. The exterior had no problem shedding snow and even held up fine through a light rain. I have had 3 down feathers poke through, no luck pulling them back in, but so far loss of down seems to be minimal. Zippers are light weight, not a problem under normal use.
All in, I love the jacket and I'm glad I went with the hoody.
Very warm (worn down to sub-20 degrees with 20-30 mph gusts with a base and thin mid-layer)
SUPER light and compressible (Size L is ~10 oz and stuffs down to the size of a small water bottle in the included stuff sack)
DWR coating does exactly what it's supposed to do after a few freak snow flurries the other day
High-moisture areas are filled with synthetic, so those area will not lose warmth due to wet down
Cuffs are elastic and provide a great seal against the cold, either over gloves or on bare skin
Enough room to layer, but cut slim enough to fit snugly with just a base layer
Best hood I have ever used. Really nicely insulated and big enough to accommodate earmuffs or another hat (but not a ski/snowboard helmet)
Company has a great reputation and track record of making excellent products (check out other reviews on Backpacker, OutdoorGearLab, SectionHiker, etc for more info)
I've had to massage a few bits of down back into the jacket already. Not a huge problem since all down jackets will shed a bit, but unfortunate.
Although the jacket seems durable, I'd be worried about bushwhacking with this jacket UNLESS you plan on using as a mid layer under a waterproof shell for fear that an errant tree branch rips it
Zippers feel a bit cheap, although they have not failed me once
thought i should "diversify" to another brand but regrettably not quite successful.
1. price: $227 for a solidly built down filled. good value.
2. the material (shell) is a little coarse and weighs a little more compared to Ghost Whisperer. although on the upside, it also feels a little more durable than the Ghost Whisperer.
1. color. the picture on the website does not accurately represent the true color of the jacket. the actual color is dull and flat compared to the picture which shows a flashy blue.
2. cutting. a little tight on the belly even though i have no beer belly. but strangely it leaves a lot of room on both sleeves.
my dilemma then became if i address the tight belly issue to go one size larger, i would end up having even more room on the sleeves.
big thanks to AMZN's return policy. easy, seamless and refund was issued on the same day after i dropped off the return package.
