Arctic Silver 5 is probably the best thermal compound that I have ever used, and I have used many. I have used it both in CPUs and GPUs and it does a phenomenal job at cooling my components. It keeps my 4770K very cool both in idle and under load. At idle the CPU stays around 33C and under load it hovers around 76C which is overclocked at 4.6Ghz. I'm using an H100i from Corsair to cool my CPU and it works very well with Artic Silver 5. The CPU stays below 65c while playing games such as Battlefield 3 and Crysis 3 on max settings.

I know there are people out there who just go straight ahead and use the pre-applied thermal paste that comes with the CPU and get horrible temps. If you are going to spend a lot of money on a high end CPU then you might as well spend a few more bucks on a quality thermal compound. It doesn't add much to the cost of a build and it's worth it in the end because you will get much lower temps than with pre-applied thermal paste.

Even when using Prime95, the CPU still stays very cool thanks to this awesome thermal paste. I use the pea method and have always gotten good results. I know some people use the single strip method right in the middle of the CPU and spread it out but I have found that the pea method works better.

I did some comparisons against the pre-applied thermal paste that comes with most CPUs/GPUs and found out that Artic Silver 5 dropped my temps around 7-10c. Artic Silver 5 comes with plenty of paste that can last a long time. Make sure you do it right because some people have their own methods which sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. If you don't apply it right, you may even get worse temps than before. Putting just the right amount of thermal paste between your CPU and your cooler makes all the difference, trust me.

It's thermal compound, as it works as it should. Goes on easy, though I wish it was a little thicker, though the computer components I applied to were not over-clocked, so it's not a big deal.
But for MOST uses, this will be perfectly suffice.
Should be enough to apply onto to quite a few processors, when used correctly.
There is a cap, so you can seal the "tube" for storage. The cap simple places on, it does NOT screw on, so it's not that secure.

In short if you need thermal compound, this is a good one, if you're over-clocking extensively, Arctic is a good budget compound.

I don't trust the paste that comes with coolers and with today's processors running HOT, effective cooling and thus thermal paste is absolutely a must.

Look no further than artic silver 5. You can use this for both your CPU as well as your GPU coolers.
This paste will keep help keep your processor, even if over-clocked, at a low temp when idle (in my case 35 deg) or under load (at around 80 deg in my case again).

And there's so much in the tube that you'll be using this on future builds as well - so it's well worth the money.

The only thing you have to be careful about is the application. Some use a credit card, some just put a dab in the middle and press the cooler onto it. Any way you choose, make sure there's no too thick of a layer. You don't want to spread it thick like peanut butter or jam which will decrease its performance. You need a fine layer but not that fine that your cooler is touching the processor directly. It's a fine balancing line but one which is common to all pastes. Don't knock the paste if you don't apply it right.

If you get the application right, you'll be rewarded with low temps and increased component life.

It's the best and most used thermal compound. If your reading this then you probably already know that. So go ahead and buy it. You won't be wrong. BTW been working on and building computers for 27yrs or so. And on the huge builds you always see on tv or gaming summits, this is what they use on their computers. If it's good enough for that type of abuse(and at those gaming summits they do abuse them) it will be good enough for your build as well. Arctic Silver is the go to thermal paste for most builders nowadays. Not all, but the vast majority uses it and thinks highly of it. It's ok to not take my word for it as well. Just Google it and see for yourself. I don't mind...;)

Actually, I have not used this particular tube but my experience with this product goes back a long way. I am very impressed that even though they sell other (excellent) products to be used in cleaning and preparing the mating surfaces, they also tell you what common products that you can use to accomplish the task as well as advising you what NOT to use. Their instructions for use are the best I have seen.

I recommend this Artic Silver to anyone that cares about proper heat sinking!

This seems to be the Gold Standard of heat transfer pastes so I got some for mating my heat sink to my hot end of my 3D printer. It works extremely well and I have enough left over for 100 more printers! hahaha
Seriously, only a very small dab is required and it does the job. I can feel absolutely no heat on the block that the heat sink is mounted to.
