From the Author
The Ares Weapon was a lot of fun to write. As a lifelong fan of science fiction, I have read a lot of different kinds of sci-fi. Some of it can be downright weird and difficult to follow (and I have a degree in hard science).
For my first novel, I wanted to write a sci-fi story that would grab the reader's attention and tell an exciting tale, but make it less about the science and more about the fiction; the story of the character Melanie Destin, and her struggles. In other words, I wanted to write a good story that just happens to be set in the far future and have all kinds of cool technology.
Movies and television shows have always inspired me, particularly stories that are set in a not so shiny future (unlike the Star Trek franchise...which I love, by the way). Not completely dystopian, but not utopian either. I like stories where the world is gritty, the machinery well worn and the people with a few bumps and scars from life. I like my settings to be lived in. I hope I captured some of that in The Ares Weapon.
Mostly, I wanted to write a sci-fi book that anyone not familiar with the genre would enjoy.
I hope you'll take a chance on an indie author and check out The Ares Weapon. I think you'll be glad you did.
