`H.'s translation succeeds admirably in being sensitive both to the needs of a Greek learner who is grappling with the original and to the exigencies of fluent English. In maintaining this balancing-act he manages not to stray from the spirit and content of the Greek. H. treats the original
with the respect it deserves. His version is accompanied by detailed notes and an index, together with a clear, concise introduction to the poem and its place in the Alexandrian tradition. Lecturers planning a Classics-in-translation course for Greek epic need look no further than this volume for an
accessible translation which will stimulate student interest and imagination. This book will be the standard English-language translation of Apollonius' Argonautica for many years to come.'
R.J. Clare, University of Leeds, Journal of Hellenic Studies, Vol. 116, 1996
From the Back Cover
The aim of the series remains that of including the works of all the principal classical authors. Although this has been largely accomplished, new volumes are still being published to fill the remaining gaps, and old editions are being revised in the light of recent research or replaced.

This is the famous Loeb library, green for Greek-English, red for Latin-English. Yes is in the public domain, the compiler gives you a link to get it for free.
Why buy it?
First: Convenience, is nice to have it in Kindle format.
Second: Cost, for the admittedly reduced market for this books, the paper books are very useful, if you can find them, Borders used to carry them but alas, those stores are no more. They cost more than twenty (20 $) each.
Third: You get the full bilingual text in parallel, the introduction, the notes and remember this is an ebook, the text in Greek and English as stand alone. Also you can make notes in either the Greek or English texts in the parallel part.
Fourth: One dollar (0.99 ¢) is a very reasonable price. Putting this in Kindle format must be hard work.
So I hope that eventually all titles will appear. One minor complaint, the book should have the new page flip feature.
So keep up the good work! 😊
If I am to improve my mind and its understanding of the world through "Great" books, I must be entertained first.
