Ariat ATS technology supports and cushions as you move, promoting good posture and reducing fatigue. At the core of ATS technology is the Ariat ATS composite shank. This patented shank design reduces skeletal and muscular fatigue and injury. Mid-foot support reduces metatarsal stress. The forked shank design allows natural forefoot flex. The ATS footbed has a low-friction surface to protect from heat build-up and blistering. Shock-absorbing gel forefoot cushion reduces skeletal impact stress on knees, hips, and lower back. Cupped footbed chassis offers torsional stability. These Ariat Heritage boots feature a smooth leather foot under a matching 6" lace-up leather shaft. Single stitched welt. Block heel. Round toe profile. Imported.
An embroidered kiltie tongue offers a handsome touch to the combat-inspired lines of Ariat's Heritage Lacer II boot. Leather upper with eyelets and lace-hooks at the ankle. Grippy rubber sole.See all Product Description

I am a big fan of Ariat boots. I should say WAS a big fan. Over the years I have purchased several pairs. About 13 years ago I had purchased 2 pairs of these lacers. One brown and one black. They wore like iron, fit was awesome, I loved them. I recently purchased a new pair of what I thought (same product #) and was led to believe were the same black lacers. Understandably my original pairs had finally worn out. (I work in the office at a police department. I used the black pair for work so they had lasted a long time). The new pair is horrible!! The tongue won't stay up, it continually travels to the outside of my ankle, very uncomfortable. They are made so much cheaper than the quality of the pair I had purchased years ago. Many of the components are no longer solid leather, including the tongue which is no longer sewn along the inside of the boot to keep it in place. My original pair had a solid leather tongue which was attached part of the way up inside the boot on both sides. I have only worn the new pair for two months (at work in an office) and they already look almost as old as my original pair. I'm am so irritated. Very Very Poor quality!! Seems to me Ariat made a good name for themselves and now are sacrificing quality to save money. No more Ariats for me!!
The price was a little more than I wanted to pay so I hemmed and hawed for a while before I took the plunge, but as soon as I pulled these babies out of the box I knew that that they were keepers.
Please Note: I am NOT an equestrian, I do not live/work on a ranch. I'm a regular city girl that's on my feet all day. I live in the Pacific Northwest and I needed boots that can handle the rain, keep my feet warm, and provide the support that my flat feet need. I'm normally a 9 but ordered an 8.5 due to previous reviews. They fit perfectly.
The height of the boot gives them a timeless look that goes well with leggings, jeans, skirts, and even shorts. The color I got (chocolate chip) is a rich brown that's dark enough to go with everything. The rubber bottoms are perfect to walk in the slick city streets on rainy days (or in the office when everybody's been walking in the rain). Most importantly, the insole is well padded...they are comfortable right out of the box. These will require a bit of wear before they're completely customized to my foot, but that's to be expected.
These are heavy duty shoes that will stand the test of time. They're like doc martens but prettier. Quite frankly, they just don't make shoes like this anymore...that's why you can't find them in stores. Just a tip: it may be worth the investment to have your boots waterproofed and oiled regularly so you can maintain the quality of the leather!
