This was definitely a different twist on my favorite superhero. I agree with Liz on sharing your secrets with your beloved. I loved the book, I couldn't put it down. A good erotic fairy tale indeed.
I would love to read more work from the author.
That's what I get for not reading the synopsis LOL
I wasn't expecting erotic but it had male/male - female/female - male/female was a book for everyone. To cover all of your pleasures.
I love a strong female lead character, and add the comic book aspect of super strength, and leading a double life and BDSM topics included in a steamy romance. Well, this book was definitely hot and erotic with some BDSM themes like exhibitionism, swinging, and bondage. However, this lead female was a mess, at once seeming to feel beautiful and desired, but also extremely perplexed that every man and women was either flirting with her or extremely jealous. Ariel is instantly attracted to just about every man she meets and has a very active imagination. Since she has to hide her super strength she desires every man that is unavailable for a long-term relationship, believing that this will protect her and them from getting put in a compromising position from "enemies" when she starts working for the CIA. Although Ariel professes to be safe, sane and consensual, she seems to slip into unsafe or non-consent scenarios too easily.
So, if you are looking for:
A strong female lead? Not so much...unless you mean physical strength.
Romance? Move along, you won't like it.
BDSM? Some, ehibitionism and wife swapping.
Strong plot and character development? No.
A quick read? Yes, short with a HEA.
Erotica? This is your book. sex, sex, and more sex.
Ariel is emotionally lost and it’s very clear to the reader that what she desires most is love and a committed relationship. However, due to her past, she’s rightly terrified of putting those she loves in danger. Yet, this deep desire is what guides her choices, even the choices that lead her away from intimacy. Ariel’s internal conflict was so well written that I found my heart breaking for her.
The hero, Pasha, is flat in comparison to Ariel. However, he is likable and his desire for Ariel is clear. Since the focus of the narrative is on Ariel the lack of character development of the hero isn’t a distraction.
My biggest complaint is that this should have been a full-length novel. The end is rushed and the conclusion is too neatly concocted. It’s a “wham, bam, thank you ma’am” type of ending. This would have been fine if it were just an erotic story. However, this is mainly a romance. Well, I like my endings to romance stories more drawn out, just the way love making should be.
I’ve read most of Liz Adam’s stories and her writing just keeps getting better and better. Ariel’s Dangerous Liaisons is the first genuine erotic romance she’s written (as opposed to just erotica) and she’s done a great job at developing the romantic elements. Since I’m a romance junkie, I appreciated the emotional journey of the heroine. I look forward to Liz’s next story!
I REALLY enjoyed this story. The main problem that I had with it was that it was too short. If it were longer, it would’ve been amazing. The pace of the story was alright for the most part, but some and the sex scenes were on point. There was only one I didn’t really care for, but, it made sense to story, so to each their own.
The shortness of this story created a few issues with pacing. The side story with Pasha and his friends felt unnecessary, even though it led her to getting her revenge. That B plot felt like an afterthought only to be wrapped up with a bow; I think that if it were longer, then it wouldn’t have those particular issues.
I would love to see more from Ariel and Pasha. I would even love a prequel for both characters.
