This was definitely a different twist on my favorite superhero. I agree with Liz on sharing your secrets with your beloved. I loved the book, I couldn't put it down. A good erotic fairy tale indeed.
I would love to read more work from the author.
That's what I get for not reading the synopsis LOL
I wasn't expecting erotic but it had male/male - female/female - male/female was a book for everyone. To cover all of your pleasures.
I love a strong female lead character, and add the comic book aspect of super strength, and leading a double life and BDSM topics included in a steamy romance. Well, this book was definitely hot and erotic with some BDSM themes like exhibitionism, swinging, and bondage. However, this lead female was a mess, at once seeming to feel beautiful and desired, but also extremely perplexed that every man and women was either flirting with her or extremely jealous. Ariel is instantly attracted to just about every man she meets and has a very active imagination. Since she has to hide her super strength she desires every man that is unavailable for a long-term relationship, believing that this will protect her and them from getting put in a compromising position from "enemies" when she starts working for the CIA. Although Ariel professes to be safe, sane and consensual, she seems to slip into unsafe or non-consent scenarios too easily.
So, if you are looking for:
A strong female lead? Not so much...unless you mean physical strength.
Romance? Move along, you won't like it.
BDSM? Some, ehibitionism and wife swapping.
Strong plot and character development? No.
A quick read? Yes, short with a HEA.
Erotica? This is your book. sex, sex, and more sex.
It is a Russian book of sorts staring Lenya, the Russian winter in a bit part along with vodka, Bratva gangsters, rock-metal music scenes, and walkup Russian apartment houses. It would have been better with more Tolstoy: "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way," or even a little Gogol, Taras Bulba. The writing was clear and the story moved along well, but without those dark twists and tangles from the land of the snow and the bear.
There was much sex in the book that sometimes got in the way of the action of the story. It is erotica after all and that was expected, but there was a story that wanted to be told also. That story wrapped up at the end neatly with a humorous and light-hearted note that brought everything around at last.
It is an easy book to read for a beach when you want to put down War And Peace and watch the frolicking around you in a sexy summer romance kind of way.
It seemed that the author had fun writing the ending, more of that please.
Better go grab your copy of Ariel's Dangerous Liaisons: The Erotic Wonders of a Super Heroic Woman by Liz Adams and make sure you don't have anyone reading over your shoulders!
