The finish on the Arista is a bit too fine and shiny to be ideal. Nonetheless, I looked past that and decided to keep it. I also ordered another one to match it since I wanted dual side-by-side holders. The finish is very nice, just a bit more polished than I would have preferred.
The Arista holder easily accommodates full rolls of regular toilet paper with room to spare - but not so much extra room as to be annoying.
The finish on the Designer's is too rustic for my taste. It is a bit rougher than the photo shows, because the photo doesn't show the fine details, like streaks / tool marks in the finish. It would be best for a retro-rough look such as in a Mexican casa, or European stone house where the objective is to harken back to the rougher work typical of previous centuries. If that is the goal, then this is a beautiful piece to help with that look.
The Designer's was a bit snug with a full roll of regular toilet paper. The arms on the unit don't stick far enough to let the roll have sufficient clearance from the walls of the well.
The roller on both of these models doesn't actually roll. The spring holds a level of tension on the rollers that prevents them from rolling.
My preferred way of mounting is to cut out sufficient gypsum to allow access to install a wood horizontal cross brace from vertical stud to vertical stud. In such a configuration it is easy to then screw the well directly to wood, although repairing and finishing the wall does require a professional level of joint compound, taping, and sanding. In doing this, I don't use any of the supplied bracketry, so I won't comment on brackets other than to say that they were supplied with the kits and I discarded them.
So after a little research I purchased this Arista Toilet paper holder.
The installation was a piece of cake and it holds the large TP rolls with no problem.
I actually got an "atta-boy" from the wife, always good.
