Edit: The seller Yesavenue offered me a replacement, and since they stand behind the products that they sell, I am bringing the stars to 5. :)
Update: I waited the two weeks requested by the seller for that line to disappear but it didn't, so it was definitely not caused by liquid or bubble. Anyway, the new one I received from them was applied without any problems, and now it finally looks great. When applying those screen be careful not to turn on the galaxy tab by chance as the liquid is not a good mix with the electronics of the touch screen. I did this as I was drying the edges and had hard time turning it off as it couldn't recognize my touch initially. Thankfully, no damage was done and it does not seem to be affected by this.
The tablet was brand new out of the box. The screen protector was brand new out of the box. Read the directions, add their spray solution and apply. I noticed a few bumps. I tried to push them out thinking it was air. That didn't work. It looks like trapped dirt. I pulled back the plastic and it's actually bumps embedded into the sheet itself. Most likely such a small manufacturing (multiple) defect(s) wouldn't be noticed, but if I'm going to be staring at this screen for at least the next year I want a clean, perfectly manufactured screen, and not to have to look around the dimples.
I emailed both Armorsuit and the seller YesAvenue. Oddly, Armor referred me back to YesAvenue to honor their warranty. Are these companies one in the same or linked? This is where it gets cloudy. To be eligible for the warranty you have to sign and agree that if for whatever reason they don't think the screen was defective, you'll be charged whatever they want:
"Waiver: All reason for return must be 100% true as stated above by you, the customer. Any false claim, return without authorized, claims that do not cover by warranty will result additional shipping, storage and processing/ exam fee. Please fully understand our return procedures and sign below before e-mail back this request form."
This means that if for whatever reason they don't agree that your screen was defective, you'll be slammed with fee upon fee if I'm reading this correct. Storage? A fee to "store" a thin layer of plastic? An exam fee? A fee to look at your thin layer of plastic? This gives an opportunity to rake in a far greater amount than the cost of the actual shield.
The application was a little nerve racking at first - its comes with a spray bottle of solution and you have to go on-line to research how its done right. There's a YouTube video and everything but I can just tell you now, you need something flat and hard like a credit card because the rubber thing it comes with half-asses the process.
Just so we're clear I'm not a professional screen applicator guy I just found a way that worked for me and I'm sharing it with you now to save you trouble and time for this thing.
For starters turn off your tablet - you're going to be touching it all over and spraying water on it so don't be a dummy.
Wash your hands WITH SOAP and dry them off.
Use microfiber cloth to clean the damn screen --all of it just rub it to the best mirror finish possible.
This is where you have to work a little quicker and in a clean as possible dust-free environment with no need or intention of using your tablet for at least 14-16 hours..
Take the spray and apply to the screen and to your fingers and to the screen and lay it flat and in-line with your tablet.
The wetness helps line the skin to the tablet and you will swipe the edge of the credit card long flat side edge down the the screen and swipe evenly left to right to bleed the excess liquid - since the tablet i off/sleep it doesn't matter and when you get a chance just take the microfiber cloth and dab off (do not rub) the liquid out from around the camera hole. You can swipe the skin a little more to get some air bubbles and moisture away from the screen --however the bubbles and stuff are normal and will go away over time.
You need time (14-16 hours) for it to air out and the static cling of the skin to bond to the tablet. And if you mess up its cool because you can peel the skin off and try again.
I even messed up BAD by putting the tablet in the silicone case and finding that the edge of the skin had peeled and actually pulled/stretched that corner I was pretty mad at myself for doing that - took the skin off and repeated the process and the skin is flexible enough that it actually reverted back to normal after the application you can tell where the mistake happened (no stretch marks or bends).
I love my screen shield and it always looks pretty clean from hours and days of regular use!
