This is a replica of the High Frequency blade used by Raiden in the new Konami game: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. This immaculate sword is all one piece hand crafted construction from top to bottom. The Full Tang blade offers a 1045 High Carbon Steel construction with a sharp edge and mirror polish finish. Imbedded within the Katana like looking blade are metal screws as depicts in the exact replica sword carried by Raiden in the Metal Gear video game. The HF blade was used predominantly by the Cyborg Ninjas Gray Fox, Olga Gurlukovich and Raiden, though it was also employed by Solidus Snake and the Arsenal Tengu. The HF blade also saw high usage among soldiers during the 2010s, as several cybernetic bodyguards were seen using them to cut down enemy soldiers in 2018. The handle and blade is all one piece which makes this remarkable sword a Full Tang construction. The handle features ABS inserts which is held together by screws for a more Metal Gear looks and feel. This Metal Gear Raiden HF Sword comes equipped with a durable black faux leather sheath with a large belt loop and two nylon straps to go around your waist line. Here it is my Metal Gear fans, a sword you have asked for and a sword worth buying so you can feel part of the game.

I know little about different strengths and qualities of steel but this is one hell of a sword! Near mirror finish of the blade and cast grips that seem very well constructed. If you're familiar with MG Rising Revengeance... excellent. You'll know that this sword is wielded by a cyborg with augmented hands. If you intend to swing this sword around with frail human hands, prepare for some discomfort. The grip design is beautiful and spot on to the design from the game but this is mostly a replica for show. This was a gift for my nephew and I couldn't bare to give him this great sword in the plain sheath it's shipped with... so I tried my hand at making the one from the game and it turned out pretty good! A couple simple (and cheap lol) tricks I used to liven up the sword is replace the phillips screws in the handle with hex screws, replace the set screws in the blade with 1/8 inch ball bearings and set with JB weld, and take the grip accents off, layer both sides with carbon fiber duck tape and reassemble...DONE!... and if you have the time buy a lot of balsa wood and make yourself a scabbard!

I am very surprised by this sword. I always admired the Metal Gear franchise and thought the Revengence game and Raiden himself looked very cool, despite never getting around to playing the series properly. So it was a bit of gamble buying this sword as it may have just been a display piece for big fans of the game.

However, i am frankly blown away with the finish of this sword. While i'm not ready to crack the blade apart to check the grain to see if it's 1045 steel or not, the blade is finished beautifully with a mirror finish and a very smooth blade with an almost invisible bevel. If the sword really is carbon steel (only time will tell, really) i am very surprised to see a blade of this quality at this price point. As for sharpness it is relatively dull but not display sword dull, and it has taken an edge relatively quickly on a whetstone.

I can't know for sure to what degree the blade is "handmade" but it does at least look like someone ran it under a power hammer (it's a tool used in forging) and while some may see that as a quality issue, the waves in the blade are unnoticeable to the touch and the slight ripples it creates a certain uniqueness to the blade. To me, that is. Perfectionists might see it a different way.

The plastic pins throughout the blade to make it look more like Raiden's blade are of decent enough quality and while they're not flush they don't stick out to an unlikable degree. Of course if it were up to me, not being a big MGS fan, i'd just have the sword without these pegs since the blade has such a lovely finish. But no matter, they're sticking to the game's design.

The handle is a very interesting piece. As you can see, it's essentially a bunch of painted piece screwed through the blade, making it full tang. It doesn't have the amazing feel of a proper katana handle but it fits in the hand well enough and is not uncomfortable in the least like i was worried about. The piece closest to the blade can be moved a little bit for me, but not to a disturbing or damaging degree.

The sheath is pretty bad, though. A single fake leather piece with a standard should strap on the back. No built-in way to keep the sword in either. Heck i'd take a piece of string over nothing, guys.

But no matter. The sword has a lovely blade and a great look. It feels very sturdy but isn't too heavy either. Great for MGS and sword fans alike. Good price point, too. Far superior to most Katana at this price, barring the sheath.

Saw this replica at the mall for 80 bucks but decided to save the 20 and get it here. Blade is slightly bent but a little flexing against my leg fixed that so it's probably not heat treated or tempered. The grind is terrible on the edge so it's not sharp at all. The handle scales were all loose but that was a quick fix. It looks cool but could use some extra grinding around the tip and handle cause it's poorly balanced due to the way the blade flares out for aesthetics. If it's truly 1045 steel this makes a great starting point to become a good katana since it's full Tang . As is it's just a cool wall hanger which is why I got it.

For the price this is a great buy! All the handle parts are made of metal. The sheath is suitable for storage or moving rather than display. It smells like real leather. This blade is also heavy, but that's expected for a cyborg sci-fi weapon! The blade itself has a mirror finish, and is sharper than most model swords I have came across, so handle with notice of that.

I want to give special thanks to Daavvv's review on here that gave me ideas to modify the blade. I went somewhat further by spray painting two coats of enamel suitable for metal, and two coats of clear enamel to protect it. Especially for parts that are silver rather than black. I then used carbon fiber vinyl that has a great sheen effect.

Despite the coloring being a bit off to what is in-game, that can be a matter of taste, and don't let it distract you from the fact the quality is fantastic for the price.

As a replica I have no complaints about it, however when looking at it as a sword it does have one problem, and that is the handle scales in the middle and on the hand guard is a bit loose and tends slide just a tad when you swing the sword or even if you just put a bit of pressure on them. Other than that the handle actually does fit the hand quite well. The sheath is pretty cheap, but if you needed something to keep the sword in it works.

Follow up: Owned the sword for awhile now and tightened up the handle scales using an allen wrench and a phillips screwdrivers which got rid of the problem of them being loose. I did notice that the screws seem to be made of a plastic because they got a bit deformed from while they were being tightened.

Parto con una premessa, se amazon vi mostra questa katana ma dal colore chiaro della lama, sappiate che non è così. La lama è in acciaio verniciato di nero (come nelle mie foto) e amazon la mostra grigia a causa di un errore.
