Sometimes a cheap tool will work just fine, but for the professional who uses this tool many times in a day a good feeling tool like this one cannot be beat. The oil changers where fighting over the one I had so I bought a second one to keep the peace. This is made like the tools of years gone by!

I have used many different ratchets throughout my life. Everything from Snap on to Matco, Craftsman and SK. All the way down to the cheap foreign brands. I personally like the Snap on 80 tooth. Due to the high cost of that ratchet I don't like to use it on high torque situations. Since then, I have been on the search for a high quality ratchet with less teeth in order to use more torque.

With this ratchet you can tell Armstrong has paid close attention to detail. The plating is excellent. The ratcheting funtion is nice and firm. The enclosed head keeps dirt and debris from entering like on many quick release ratchets. Tools are always a great investment and I can tell I should get many years of use out of this Armstrong ratchet.

If you want a really nice 1/2 ratchet at a reasonable price, this is the one to get. I was looking for a good one in my price range. Snap-On is a bit expensive so I was deciding between Wright or Armstrong, both of which are good quality industrial grade ratchets. The final selling point for me was the lever to switch between forward and reverse. Other ratchets make it so you have to have two hands to switch it but this one has just a one finger flip and your going the other way. As far as being tough I put this ratchet to the test regularly as an turbine mechanic working in power plants, on the road, from shutdown to shutdown. The bolts here get hot and rusty and you can put a lot of stress on your tools. Not only is this tool tough, it's really a beautiful ratchet with its chrome finish and its quite comfortable to work with. I actually get a lot of compliments on it. Not to mention made in the USA. I've had this ratchet over a year and a half and it's still going strong like the first day I used it. A+

Quality tool. The handle is comfortable in your hand. Great for getting extra torque on a bolt. Doesn't slip any gears. Very happy with my purchase.

Very nice and solid. The finish is great and likewise with the 3/8 inch drive version, the gear mechinisms are smooth and robust. It's a 36 tooth gear (same as the 3/8 inch version) so worrying about torque isn't an issue.

I am in the process of up dating all my Craftsman tools to made in the USA brands. I Decided to give Armstrong a chance. I have been buying a lot of stuff from the Snap On Truck. The Armstrong is nice and is a good fit in my new updated box. I like it so much I ordered another in 1/4 drive with a flex head.

You will not be disappointed.

Exactly what I was looking for. Very well made, smooth and positive ratcheting. Nice handle contour and beautiful polished finished. Made in USA and a perfect replacement for my old Craftsman as I swap out the Taiwanese warranty replacements for US made tools.
