Product Description

Product Description

Army Men as a series has some fantastic gameplay and the Sarge's Heroes series was one of the most popular. Included on this deal is a bonus game, Air Combat, which extends the cartoon warfare to the sky. Overall this is an extremely exciting series and if you've ever played with the real plastic ones... This is your imagination come true.

Little green plastic army men: perhaps one of the all-time classic toys. Who hasn't spent hours of their childhood enacting epic sandbox battles with these little guys? With their Army Men series, 3DO has let gamers see the world from the army men's two-inch-tall perspective.

Your mission is to rescue the members of Sarge's squad from the evil "tan army guys" army. A series of progressively more difficult missions teaches the player to become proficient in using traditional army man weapons, including the M-16, sniper rifle, mortar, hand grenade, and bazooka. Unlike many multiweapon games, Army Men: Sarge's Heroes offers choices of firepower that aren't gratuitous. Each weapon has specific advantages and all of them are needed to complete the missions. It's a little detail, but one of the coolest features of this game is that your onscreen hero assumes all the classic army men poses when using the weapons: the machine gunner, the hand grenade thrower, the standing marksman, even the classic "crawling guy" are faithfully represented.

So how are the missions? In a word: fun. All are challenging, and one gets to fight in places where your mom would never let you, such as the kitchen and the bathroom. With great combat action, interesting missions, and a good dose of humor, 3DO has another Army Men victory. --Jeanne Uy

This is a classic. The controls are easy, you can learn in five minutes although I must admid turning can be annoying because of sluggishness. Missions are not hard, but they are not easy. A good intermediate game. Large selection of weapons - m-16, 50 caliber, flamethrower, mortar, mines, etc. Fun battles between the green and tan men, to go with a good story. Good graphics and realism, but no sickening violence. Good for kids and adults. Multiplayer is awesome. Codes are also given after each level.

I always wanted 007, but now I think Sarge's Heroes is better! Here's a few cons, before the whole lot of Pros! Cons: One player missions can be frustrating, since you have to start a level all over if you die during one of the multiple tasks per level. In multiplayer mode, the game has frozen a couple of times (I think because we were all pressing the buttons a little too anxiously at the same time). The controls are ok; they take some getting used to. PROS: I have a lot of praise for this game. Great weapons: the deadly flamethrower, the "one shot, one kill" bazooka or grenade gun, the machine gun, sniper, etc. The action is fun, too--partly serious warfare, partly comicalness. You can run around the town, base, etc., or in the bathroom, livingroom, etc. I have never laughed or had so much fun whipping friends as I have it this game. Snipering is the best; I can't explain how funny it is to be snipering your friend unawares, while he is snipering somebody else. I've had Goldeneye fans play the game (once!) & tell me they like 007 better, but having played both a lot, I like Sarge's. You can jump, warp, dive, and sniper in Sarge's, plus the weapons are more fun. You can also turn off the radar during 4-player, which makes for some hilarious encounters. This is THE party game! I recommend this game to everyone; it's a true classic!

This is a very fun game. I did not get a chance to try out the multiplayer, but the graphics, sound, and weaponry were a blast (literally). The concept of playing as a little plastic guy is loads of fun. The only problem with it: the camera perspective is 3rd person (except when using the sniper rifle in scope mode), and keeping the right point of view (above and behind the player, facing in the same direction) is impossible if in the middle of a machine gun spraying melee. The camera lags behind your turn, so you can easily end up shooting the wrong guy on some levels, because you can't see where you are firing! I would recommend a rental first to see if the camera problem is too much to deal with. At the prices of N64 games, that kind of problem is inexcusable.

I am very pleased with my purchase of Sarge's Heroes. It is one of those games that will make you late for appointments because you want to finish that level. I love how each mission prepares you for the next. You actualy feel that you are a better player after finishing a level. the multiplayer is great for teaming up with and against your friends.

This really is a great game. The single player missions are just great, the panoramas are amazing and the graphics in general are just quite good. There are lots of cool details: the sniper rifle is amazing (much better than that of bond) and you have to use each gun, not like in bond where you just use the biggest, most powerful weapon available. The single player levels are challenging but still doable.
Although the single player levels are good, the multiplayer levels are amazing. It's great fun chasing your friends around with the flame thrower or sniping them or what not.
Buy this game, it's the best option out there on the N64.

army men was a pretty cool game as far as the weapons go. cheats make it pretty fun, but there is still that stressful feeling you get when you turn a corner, or get shot. the controls take some time to master, and it is somehow difficult to run and shoot people. as far as toasting people with weapons, there is no more of a satisfying feeling. but what i am getting to here, is that you shouldn't get up tight if you don't do well- it's a fun but difficult game!

I have only had this game for a few days now, but I am really enjoying it, and I'm 28 years old! It's fun. I like the fact that there isn't any blood or graphic violence (I don't consider destroying enemy plastic army men as graphic violence) and this is a game I would even consider letting my children play. My husband has become an Army Heroes fanatic. The graphics are pretty good and moving Sarge around is pretty easy to get used to. Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone. It sure is fun!
