Reviews:
An Arrow Against the Wind stands out in the crowd. It is imaginative, yet familiar.... There is a care and quality to his work, a subtlety, in which he takes the things that we know and love and gives them back to us through his own imaginative lens. If the Bow of Destiny was a fresh take on a classic tale, An Arrow Against the Wind seeks to refine it all further still. Here, Mister Solomon has grown bolder, but wiser. Fantasia Reviews Announcement post We have read more than a couple great books this year, and An Arrow Against the Wind is surely among them. - ★★★★★ Fantasia Reviews

Review
"....near non-stop action, An Arrow Against the Wind is a more complex book, which delves deeper into the emotions of our main characters (heroes and villains), reveals back stories, unveils motives, and plunges our heroes into the gloom and doom of their circumstances, as the dangers come at them from unexpected places. Definitely an entertaining fantasy series in the classic quest adventure mold!" Bookwraiths
" Highly recommended!" Author, Mae Clair

About the author

I’ve always been a fantasy geek. Books by authors like Tolkien, McCaffrey, McKillip and more stoked my imagination on frosty winter nights as much as the fireplace warmed my limbs. Now I love writing my own fantasy tales. My imagination merges with my sense of everyday courage as I tell stories about characters challenged by life as they discover they matter. My background in anthropology mingles with my fantasy settings as my characters seek truth beyond their quests and adventures. Join me on the fantasy path and let’s share a book at the fire.

So far the 2 books that I have read are very slow in spots.
Hopefully book 3 will be a faster read.
Then it just got repetitious. The characters kept thinking the same thoughts over and over. Hastra contemplated her second death. Athson blamed himself for not saving his father. There were troll attacks, another blizzard, and the company would separate again.
Almost all the sentences started with a subject. Even more, they usually started with an article. Any prose sounds dull if sentence after sentence begins, "The..." or "A..." or "Athson...."
I started highlighting the words and sentences where I got confused. There's a lot of yellow in the second half of the book. Some prepositions are unclear, and other wording is just vague.
"Trolls came into view." From where? Did they burst out from behind rocks? Did they slink through the trees? Did they drop out of the sky? Other times the characters would refer to something I wouldn't catch. "That one night was all her fault." Huh? Even when I reread whole pages, I still didn't understand.
In books with a Creator, I don't mind some miracles. I like them, the sudden faith, strength, or hope. But three instances of literal deus ex machina? The characters could have gotten away! But, no, Eloch rescues 3 different sets of prisoners at the end. He leaves hardly anything for the characters to do. That was the climax? How anti-climatic.
