Arrow: The Complete Fifth Season S5 (DVD)
In Season Five, Newly appointed Mayor Oliver Queen finds himself challenged as he fights on two fronts for the future of Star City. With his right hand, John Diggle, back in the military and his sister Thea adamant about hanging up her vigilante hood as Speedy, Team Green Arrow is down to just Oliver and Felicity – but they’re no longer the only vigilantes in town. Green Arrow’s public defeat of Damien Darhk at the end of Season Four has inspired a new crop of masked heroes to step up and defend the city, though their painful inexperience makes them obstacles rather than allies in the field. The arrival of a deadly new adversary will force Oliver to confront questions about his own legacy, both as mayor and as the Green Arrow. Echo Kellum joins the cast in Season Five as brilliant inventor Curtis Holt.]]>

IMO this is the greatest season of Arrow! Even surpasses the amazing season 2.
The season is filled with intrigue, excitement & great characters. The show that started the superhero craze on tv. Has now raised the bar for everyone else in the genre. Amell gets a lot of flack for his acting online. After this season, no one can question his acting prowess. The final episodes hinged a lot on his portrayal. He completely knocked it out of the park!
Can't wait for this release! Highly Recommended!
Comic books don't read like this. They have more to do with the evil guy planning some big job. In comes the hero to save the day.
It doesn't help that this show seems to want you to know everything that happened in Oliver's background either on the island or in Russia.
Now for the 5th season in particular. Way too many "I have your loved one, go ahead and kill" me junk. One hostage scene after another. It got SO boring.
At one point I decided to just fast forward through one of the episodes. Now that really says a lot as I liked this show when it first came out.
Some TV series could have used more episodes: this one could have used less.
Background information is nice but the viewer OD's over what is offered in Arrow. Flash and the rest pretty much the same.
Spiderman went the same way. Its why I gave up watching anything Spiderman and I about to do the same with all of the Marvel comics shows.
Batman (DC comics) movies were MUCH better. They showed the background of Bruce Wayne but not to the point where almost half of the three movies (with Christian Bale) were flashbacks.
Flashbacks came into movies and television and were great when they did. Now we are deluged with them.
So obviously there is going to be a Season 6 (and I'm sure there is) I will watch the first few episodes and if its the same old boring format as Season 5 (and others) I will find something else to watch.
It's sad to see, but understandable as to why viewers left after seasons 3 and 4, but if anyone reading this is an old fan perhaps willing to give the show another chance, you wont be disappointed. Its a true return to what made Arrow great in seasons 1&2.
For those wondering, yes there's still a little bit of the Olicity stuff but its very much toned down and never truly a focus in the season as it was in the past.
But the culmination of the entire season in the final episode entitled: "Lian Yu" is perhaps one of the best, if not THE best episode of the entire series.
This season (concurrently with The Flash:season 3 and Legends of Tomorrow:season 2) also contains a true crossover to behold. The 3 part Invasion story started incredibly with The Flash episode, brought the emotion with the Arrow episode (which also served as Arrow's 100th episode), and was brought to an awesome and delightfully over the top end in the Legends episode.
I've been watching Arrow since the very first season and I've never stopped. Ive never lost faith and I will continue to watch until the very end.
