About our Arrowroot Flour:

Arrowroot is simply the starch of a tuber called the (you guessed it) arrowroot. It thickens at a low temperature and is a smooth and delicious alternative to cornstarch. It is also wonderful for gluten-free baking, where it can lend a bit elasticity and fluffiness to batters and doughs that a gluten-free recipe would otherwise be lacking in.

Arrowroot is the perfect replacement for wheat and corn based flours. This causes Arrowroot Flour to have a more neutral taste and very smooth consistency.

Our Arrowroot Flour is derived from the rhizomes of the Maranta Arundinacea plant, found in Thailand. The Arrowroot itself is picked, washed, and cleaned of its undesirable scales. The roots are then reduced to a pulp using large mortars, and then dried, allowing the insoluble liquids of the root to evaporate. What's left is our Anthony's Arrowroot Flour.

Great for Baking

Arrowroot powder can add a bit of starchiness, crispiness, or fluffiness to your baked goods. It’s great to use with our other flours like Anthony’s Blanched Almond Flour or Anthony’s Organic Coconut Flour.

Great grain-free thickener

If you’re avoiding grains, Anthony’s Arrowroot Powder is just the thing to thicken your sauces and gravies. It’s made from a tuber, so there are no grains in sight.

Crispy Almond Flour Waffles

Ingredients:

4 eggs
1/2 cup Anthony's Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, melted
1/2 cup milk (almond, coconut, rice milk, dairy milk, etc.)
2 tablespoons Anthony's Organic Sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1-1/4 cups Anthony's Almond Flour or Culinary Almond Flour
1/2 cup Anthony's Arrowroot Starch
1 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions:

Whisk the eggs with the coconut oil, milk, sugar, and vanilla.
Stir in the almond flour, arrowroot, and baking soda.
Cook in a waffle iron per manufacturer's instructions.

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15 minutes:
Yield: 10 square waffles

Chocolate Cake Cookies

Ingredients:

1/3 cup Anthony's Coconut Sugar
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil or other melted fat of choice
1/3 cup pure pumpkin puree
1 cup Anthony's Culinary Grade Almond Flour or Blanched Almond Flour
1/3 cup Anthony's Arrowroot Flour
1/3 cup Anthony's Cacao Powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350° F and grease a cookie sheet.
In a mixing bowl, mix together the coconut sugar, olive oil, and pumpkin.
Add the almond flour, arrowroot, and cacao powder and mix well.
Stir in the baking soda and salt.
Drop my tablespoonfuls onto the baking sheet and flatten out just a bit.
Bake for 15 minutes. Let cool and eat with a tall glass of almond milk!!

Makes about 1 to 1-1/2 dozen

Coconut Flour Cinnamon Doughnuts

Instructions:

Doughnuts:

4 eggs
1/3 cup Anthony's Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, melted
1/3 cup Anthony's Erythritol or Organic Sugar
1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons Anthony's Coconut Flour
1/3 cup Anthony's Arrowroot Starch or Tapioca Starch
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt

Topping:

2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/3 to 1/2 cup Anthony's Erythritol or Organic Sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 350° F.
Grease a doughnut pan.
Whisk the eggs with coconut oil and sugar.
Add the coconut flour, arrowroot, baking soda, and salt and mix well.
Divide batter between 6 doughnut "cups."
Bake for 15-20 minutes.
Combine the sugar and cinnamon for the topping in a shallow bowl.
Brush the doughnuts with butter and dust in cinnamon sugar.

Prep tim: 20 minutes
Cook time: 20 minutes
Yield: 6 doughnuts

I am really happy that Arrowroot flour is something that we can purchase. It has helped me with my stomach. I use this every other day to keep things with my stomach happy. Thank you for this product very much. Price is decent but could the price be better not sure. I try to be gluten free but sometimes difficult. This product is gluten free and has helped me out substantially. I love this product as a thickener in soup, which I eat a lot of, noticing the difference in in inflammation but I will not say for sure if it is because of this product arrowroot, because I am not a doctor or a nutritionist. Arrowroot is great for thickening without needing long cooking or high temperatures at about 135° this will thicken so you can just put it in at the end of your cooking. The only downside is that it will begin to thin again if you get it too hot don't remember the temperature but check it out by the way it does not affect the taste at all

I use arrowroot powder not just for thickening sauces or soups but I use it in baking as I eat a grain-free diet. a lot of arrowroot product is sold in small bags, so this time I opted for the big bag as it was a good deal. boy is it a big bag. it's probably going to last me the rest of the year.the bag does have a functional ziplock on it but it will probably transfer it to a jar soon as it wafts powder through the air quite easily, when stored in the bag. all the Anthony's brand products that I have purchased have turned out to work well in my recipes and they're usually a great deal.
