Double-ended, pointed and made from soft, gray paper felt, stumps are excellent for blending and smoothing pastels, charcoal, graphite or any other dry media. Tortillons are excellent for rapid, thin blending on pencil, charcoal or pastel drawings. Both are easily sharpened with a sandpaper block. This 10-piece set includes six tortillons and four stumps in mixed sizes.

I love these. I recently began drawing with charcoals, and I remembered using these in art class in high school, so I ordered them, and I was surprised how much better they worked now that I am an adult and understand what I am doing! lol
I actually use the smallest one for cleaning my keyboard, because its gentle but can still get into the crevices too. I work in IT so I will likely order more just for that actually.

I not much when it comes to blending and all but I like how the price was and how many of them came I would say they are very worth it. It made it very easy for me to blend my drawings and these are very good to use when you want to blend in a certain part of the drawing more over parts that you can’t really blend with your finger because it will only mess it up. At first my package didn’t arrive saying the package got lost and all but they were able to replace it and I was totally fine with that as long as it came.

These were purchased as a stocking stuffing for my up and coming young artist. She is making her way through a self taught art course and requested these to give her aid. She was tired of getting the ol' gray artists finger when trying to shade her projects. With neat, pointed tortillions, the shading gets right where you want it. These are a great help and the assorted sizes are a real treat. I would suggest a kneadable eraser as well. Highly recommend.
Silly artists, gray is for tortillions, not fingers. :-)

These stumps and tortillions are magnificent for shading and to use them for blending oil pastels. Personally i prefer using the stumps for blending/shading charcoal and/or graphite and the tortillions for blending oil pastels. Just be careful to not press too hard on the tortillion or it will collapse into itself.

I would say these aren't my favorite at all. They are paper and not like the smooth ones that you can get that are white. They blend ok. Nothing wow about them. I'll be going out and buying different ones and keeping these as back up

I'm using this set to blend colored pencil pigments using Gamsol odorless mineral oil, and it works very well. All are very tightly wrapped, no falling apart. I wish there were more double-ended pieces. I recommend using one point for each basic color, or you can sand them down to refresh the points.

I bought these for my 9 year old daughter to use because she was complaining that her fingers were getting sore when she was blending her pastels. She is definitely a "rookie" artist and is just discovering how to use all of these gadgets. They are essentially rolled paper of varying sizes and points. She's only used them a few times, but she says they work "a lot better" than her finger. I'm assuming you can peel back the top layer once it becomes saturated? Like I said, we are novices in the art world.

absolute rubbish use once and you have to throw them away most of them are hollow the tip just buckles would not recommend waited over two weeks for delivery pay a bit extra and use local suppliers
