Transformative Insights

This is a very powerful book with some truly keen insights on anthropology and life in general. The book offers so many cool concepts and examples. I particularly liked a section talking about the power of media on society and an example where Polaroid photos were taken and shown to villagers in a remote area in New Guinea in the late 1960’s. Really interesting stuff. There is also a captivating section dealing with A Hero’s journey and the lack of initiation practices within the modern west which cause problems within our society. Author Professor Michael Wesch, really makes this subject matter come alive with his easy writing style and thoughtful examples and experiences. He makes you want to be an anthropologist. I highly recommend this book.
