Wow!!! The Art of Hustle has been spoken on mixtapes and other LP's and I'm excited to experience the growth Yo Gotti has taken in this masterpiece. He brought it lyrically and delivered it with realness. The Art of Hustle started with My City which is an epic beginning actually warming us up to Gotti from where he started. K.Michelle bellows that "Ol' Memphis Ol Tennessee" like a modern day Tina Turner with a mellow vibe. Instantly I'm drew into the life of this Memphis, Ten artist.
Bible feat Wayne is epic. It brought back that Old mixed with new Wayne and Gotti who is truly off the wall in his lyrics which can also be true. Down In The DM #1 song played on the radio has that beat and hypes the crowd before the crazy sneaky freaky lyrics begin. Its a song that has shown and proved to this artist that the least track you expect can be the one that land you in a position such as this. Its what I believed put the wheel in Gotti's back to go ahead and drop this album on us. Happy he did.
Law feat E-40 is a street melody that gives direct laws to those who are in position and have the power to position others. Which a rare these days. Of course like true E-40 fashion he contributed heavy knowledge to the track and performed well as he is. The Art of Hustle is "One" of my favorites of this album. It gets deep here and and it gives us music lovers the edge of rap.
Smile, Come Up and Pay the Price were all the typical gangsta rap as well as Imagine Dat, but Momma, IS MY ULTIMATE FAV. It's no sceret I love songs that tribute MOTHERS and Dear Mama by Tupac and Momma by Hurricane Chris are also personal Momma favorite songs. Now I have a new ringtone lol. Gotti raps about how his relationship is not solely on his mother but his aunts and sis as well it's like a family tribute.

Memphis, Tenn’s Yo Gotti was colder on I Am, his last and fourth studio album, than he is on The Art of Hustle, his newest and fifth LP. This Epic Records/Collective Music Group collection has a heart and conscience that places it higher on the evolutionary rap food chain than its predecessor, and while Gotti still hasn’t shed his abberrant ghetto hood-ness, it is the moments of kindness, outreach, compassion and love that define and distinguish The Art of Hustle (out for sale today, February 19).

The higher thinking starts right at the beginning in “My City,” as Yo Gotti shakes his head and grieves ghetto-violence and its familiar fallen. The fascinating thing about The Art of Hustle is that songs that might have been filler, “My Bible” and “Law” for example, are made the opposite with either a strong guest spot or a unique, interest-provoking beat. In the aforementioned two examples, it’s Lil Wayne and E-40 that save the tracks. The quietly freaky “Down in the DM,” is strictly fun but has an intentionally alluring, tickling soundtrack.

We get more of those good little notes to study in the do-right-encouraging titular song, “The Art of Hustle,” in the female thief-bashing “Come Up,” and in “Momma,” where Gotti praises the women who raised him when times were hard, especially his mother obviously. “Smile” and “Pay The Price” are both made of typical gangsta music, but they also have strong beats, most particularly in the case of “Smile”’s Timbaland-produced accordion music with rickety stacked up drill drums.

“General,” another one of those fillers saved by a nice guest (Future in this case), is followed by “Imagine Dat.” Here, Yo Gotti arrives at the juncture where the coarse gritty nature of the hood collides with the shiny pretentious society of Hollywood.

Since I buy most of my music digitally from Amazon, I never visit brick-n-mortar locales anymore to purchase CD's, but was passing a Best Buy on way from school and decided to stop in and look for the new Kayne West cd for some reason. Needless to say, it didn't show in their system at all as even being released, so instead of leaving empty handed, I decided to give Gotti a try because Best Buy claimed to have 2 additional tracks not available elsewhere. After putting it on I was instantly transported into the world of seedy drug deals gone bad, luxury living and hoes gone wild that only Yo Gotti can deliver. So many instant classics, but the song I can't take off repeat is the Timbo-laced "Smile". If you thought Timberland had become irrelevant, listen to this gem and be prepared to become a believer again! It will blow your speakers out and Gotti delivers in true form talking "I been popping pills all day....the ones with the smile on the face", LOL! I see Amazon has a deluxe version that has almost same songs as the so called Best Buy exclusive, so make sure you cop that one to hear the equally sonic "Hunnid" and "Luv Deez Hoes" w/ ya boy 2 Chainz on point. I'll be waiting to see if anyone can come close to this release, it's my album of the year so far, get it ASAP!
