As an artist and flora lover I was looking for a book that carried more or less the same aesthetics from the cover of it throughtout it. Only pages 1-29 do. Pages 30 to 39 are science-book-looking illustrations of the inside microscopic look of plants. Pages 40 to 55 are pretty pictures that could haven been bigger. Pages 56 to 63 are probably the BEST illustrations in this book ironically someone had the not so great idea of displaying these HORIZONTAL pictures VERTICALLY... Looking half the size they could. Pages 64 to 70 are very scientific looking line drawings. Pages 72 to 131 are all animals, including science line drawings again. All illustrations are pretty but just know that is more sciency than what the cover would make you believe and quite frankly I didn't want to see animals in here, it should have been a separate book perhaps.

This book is a fascinating goldmine of education, art for framing, or simply a beautiful coffee table book. It would make a great gift for people that love art or nature, for decorators, parents, seniors, or for yourself. I recently saw a collection of 6 identical minimally framed prints in the mid 200's on a popular decorating site. My only difficulty will be choosing which side of the page I will frame because so many of my fav's for framing are back to back. But there are at least 25 full size suitable for framing so I don't anticipate a problem..

Absolutely beautiful book. The botanicals on the black background are gorgeous, I framed some and put them up around my house. Would be nice if a bit more care was taken with the packaging but only slight scuffs on the hardcover and pages were fine.

The pictures in this book are absolutely stunning. I purchased this book to take a few pages out and use as art for my dining room wall. I was a bit disappointed that the pictures didn't fill the entire page, but they are still large enough, about 8.5" by 11".
I was also pleasantly surprised that there is a zoology section to the book. I didn't read the description very well, so I'm not sure if it states they are there or not.
This book is highly recommended by me!

The illustrations in this book are really interesting. There's also a nice variety of images in the book, with different illustration styles, subject matter, and presentation design making for a consistently stimulating reading experience. There isn't a lot of accompanying text, which may be a drawback for some readers, but I found that there was just the right amount of supplemental information to satisfy my basic curiosity. This would make a great gift and would be a fantastic addition to any personal library of illustrated books.

This is a book to just look at and enjoy (not a lot of reading in it!). The illustrations are bold and bright, most on a black background - as shown on the cover illustration.
I particularly loved the botanical illustrations and just about every one of them is worthy of framing. Three to five of them would look great as a set of framed pictures. Not sure whether I can bear to tear the book up though - I might just have to buy another copy.

I can see why she wanted this book to share with her "fibers" students. How beautiful! I'm sure that the students were inspired by the luxurious drawings - three of her ten students who qualified for the state art competition received gold certificates!
