"The Art of Living Joyfully: How to Be Happier Every Day of the Year" is written by Allen Klein. Klein is the author of "The Healing Power of Humor", which is in its fortieth printing, and he's a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Applied and Therapeutic Humor. If there is a man who can tell you how to be joyfully, Klein seems like the guy.

So what is "The Art of Living Joyfully"? It's 179 pages of amusing and inspiring quotes, organized by subject matter, from the likes of Mark Twain, Plato, and George Washington Carver. Klein suggests you pick a single quote and post it in a few places where you'll see it throughout the day. Personally I'd try carrying the quote on me in my pocket to pull out and read on and off during the day. Klein states that it almost doesn't matter how you use the quotes, as long as you use them regularly.

It seems like a good plan. Who couldn't use a little bit more joy in their life?

"Man is so made that whenever anything fires his soul, impossibilities vanish." - Jean de la Fontaine

The title of this book really caught my interest. Who doesn't want to live a joyful life? And if you do why not do it with gusto. I think everyone can relate to that. With the author being a motivational speaker I was curious to see what she had to tell me. One concept I really like about this book is how it is divided into sections, like Arts, Creativity, Family, Nature, Pets, Friendship, Laughter, Beauty, Faith and a few more. Each section provides a collection of insight to motivate and uplift the reader daily, if read as such. I feel this book does just that and it actually has inspired me in sharing, which I do by placing the quotes in emails to others. Although I read through this book in a few sittings. I feel this book is actually meant to read slowly day by day and more so on those days when one feels they need a pick-me-up.

So does this book make my life more joyful? I believe for one to lead a joyful life one must work at it. Just like one must work on friendship, love and relationships. For this to happen one has to have the right tools to teach us and help us daily into implementing positives into our lives, and this book is a good start. I recommend this book to anyone looking for inspirational and motivational quotes and advice. It also makes a great gift for that special someone.

"The art of living joyfully; how to be happier every day of the year," is a treasure trove of wonderful sayings and observations, that inspire us to find joy in every day life. As SARK writes in the introduction, "I am always looking for ideas that help people enrich their lives. This book does just that." The book is filled with quotations that inspire, uplift, and sometimes amuse as well.

There are 10 chapters filled with many inspiring, some amusing quotations that you can chose from to inspire you each day. As the author writes, "try posting a few where you will see them regularly." Or you could just open the book and select a new one to post every day, on you computer, to sign your e-mails, on your bathroom mirror, where ever you want to remember to find the joy.

Here are some samples I opened to today: Samuel Goldwyn, "When someone does something well, applaud! You will make two people happy." Jean Kerr wrote, "I'm tired of all that nonsense about beauty being only skin-deep. What do you want--an adorable pancreas?" Norman Vincent Peele wrote, "People become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things. When they believe in themselves they have the first secret of success." And finally, Frank Bianco wrote, "If you begin to live life looking for the God that is all around you, every moment becomes a prayer."

There are plenty more quotations to inspire and remind us to live more joyfully. And this attractive book is great for a gift, for yourself and others.

Like most people, I need a little lift to my day. This book provides JUST THAT. My favorite tips on how to get happier are from Oprah Winfrey, Dolly Parton and lots of other sassy ladies. Thank god for Allen Klein, the world's only "jollytologist." He has truly mastered "the art of living joyfully!

Life can be so stressful and many times we forget to "Live Joyfully!" I love to start each day by opening up a random page and being surprised. Not only do the quotes make me smile with gratitude and laugh out-loud, but remind me it only takes a few minutes to stop and smell the roses! Like today's quote from Bern Williams on page 131 - "There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face." I have two puppies and know it's the truth!
Allen Klein truly has the gift of writing and I am so happy he has chosen to share it! Can't wait for his next book!

I got this after reading sample pages and some the wonderful quotes they had about art. But this is truly just a marvelous, uplifting, compelling little collection of quotes. I've kept it next to my bed ever since I bought it. Nice sometimes to read a miscellaneous quote from it in the morning, before getting up. I've enjoyed this book.
