The concept is one of presenting artists, men and women, whose artistic output includes images of the male figure. The styles represented in this volume are varied – a very fine survey of technique in subject matter and format. The artists are from around the world - Amnon David Ar - Israel, Dan Simoneau - USA, Karen Kruse - Spain, Kendric Tonn - USA, Len Gerwick - USA, Manolo Yanes - Spain, Miguel Ministro - Portugal, Nicolas Maureau - France, Ross Bannister - Australia, Roy D. Smith – USA and all are gifted and their images are enlightening as are their interviews. As has been the tradition from the inception of The Art of Man the works are unified historically by an article on a deceased artist of importance – in this volume that artists is the controversial Egon Schiele with many rarely seen images from his turn of the 20th century output.
Immensely readable, entertaining and enlightening this is a terrific book for holiday giving for friends who appreciate fine art. Grady Harp, December 15
