Matisse, Monet, Raphael, etc just to name a few, you have drawings (though, Noble's rendering) of all of these famous paintings!! The great thing about this publication is that it is done only on ONE SIDE of the page which is rare for a DOVER PUBLICATION). Put another piece of paper in between the pages in case of bleed through, but you can use any medium...I use all my colored pencils (Crayola, Marco Raffine, and Prismacolor), markers (Crayola, Stabilo, Staedtler) & gel pens (Glitter, Metallics, Neon) on them....The paper is thick, the kind that DOVER uses on all its coloring books...Worth every penny and would make an awesome gift for a coloring book enthusiast!!! A TOTAL MUST BUY!!!
this coloring book was purchased at the same time i purchased the one linked below. as i said in my other review, i am an avid fan of coloring to relax and relieve stress. i also found this coloring book on amazon and had to have it! there are 60 pages to complete... i am planning on searching each picture on the internet as i go along and trying to replicate the colors, shading etc.
this book is beyond words! i am completely impressed with the intricate details in the pictures! i have not yet colored in it, but i love looking at the drawings! this is going to be quite the project when i start it. this is definitely for older persons who love to color.

Each photo is a stand alone and there are perforated lines to make it easier to remove the picture. The quality of the paper is on the rough side and I have seen better in other books. The original renditions are in color and are small, however, a tip I have is to look the painting up on the internet and get a larger image. A plus is that each painting has a corresponding description of the artist and background information.
I would have given this a 2 star, however, among all of the books featuring great masters, I think this is the best.
For those considering buying it for kids, there are several paintings that have partial nudes, which can be easily removed.
My favorite coloring book continues to be the Alphonse Mucha by Gustave Baumann (Jan 1, 2011) coloring book.
Of course, me personally, I'm not going to paint it like the artist. Mona Lisa is going to have pink skin with purple tribal tattoos and green hair. ;)
