Here we have an excellent book giving guidance on how professionals of various types learn to control their minds under various crisis and otherwise extremely stressful situations. It includes personal stories that illustrate the information provided; the information itself, sometimes in the form of scientific analysis and explanation; and exercises in using the information, and developing the needed skills and mindset. Especially to be recommended for soldiers, security personnel, EMTs, police, firefighters, hired goons, and serious martial artists. Not recommended for ostriches and others who like to stick their heads in the sand. ;)

A great book about techniques used in extreme situations to make the right call. It is a really interesting reading, full of learnings form people that need to take life and death decisions on a daily basis. A set of military techniques that can help people in their normal lives - I found this to be a very captivating subject, and also the first kind of book I have read on the topic. Everything in the book is to the point, and very well detailed and explained for its readers. A really interesting subject and approached very well by the author.

I always wonder if I am making the right decision. Throughout my life, I feel as if I have missed out on a lot of great opportunities because I am too hesitant. This book has definitely helped me overcome my fears and train myself to agree to situations that are best for me. It is important when you are on your toes to be ready for anything -- and this guide really helped me to understand how my mind works when it comes to decisions and to make the most out of my life for my career and personal life. This book is great and easy to understand -- while some of life's moments are not LITERALLY life or death, they can result in catastrophic failure. I am so glad to be thinking on my toes and experiencing life to the fullest. This is a must read for just about anyone!

A friend recommended this book to me after struggling with some life issues. This book is an excellent resource in helping develop techniques in making difficult choices. It deals with coping mechanisms and mental toughness. The author really delves into the consciousness of quick decision making and also interjects his brand of humor. I will be gifting this to some particular people in my life.

I don't usually read books like this, but what a surprise! Very interesting personal accounts, most of them were more than a bit scary. Nicholas Black's style is unique and it gets into your head long after you've put the kindle down.

After having read a bunch of Nick's books, mostly fiction, I realized that there must be a lot more to him than meets the eye. I started reading this book on a whim and really found it useful to me. It has helped me in ways I can barely explain. Life and death decision-making is probably the most important thing that any of us could ever learn.
Thank you for this, I'm giving it to my family.

This was a completely different book than those I usually read. The thought of having to make a life or death decisions is scary enough. This book really gave me a system for making those kinds of once in a lifetime decisions that i couldn't possibly prepare for otherwise.

The audiobook is wonderful when you're just driving around, we're stuck in traffic and you want to make the time actually work for you. The chapters are perfect and the narration is clean and entertaining!
