This is a book I have looked forward to owning for a long time and it is everything I expected and far more.
The Parsis have possibly the oldest living culture that still exists in this world. These happy go lucky, kind and party loving people have their roots in ancient Persia.
They are Zoroastrians , who follow a religion that entered documented history in the 5th century BC and were the majority in ancient Persia. They moved to the Indian subcontinent around the 8th century AD after the Muslim conquest of Persia.
Their unique culture is thus a mix of both their fabled Persian origin and their subcontinental new home. Their food reflects this perspective.
These recipes are unique and extremely delicious.
The book itself is very well written , with easy to follow recipes and lavishly illustrated.
As one who both loves history and has been cooking for many years and is always interested in something new , this treasure trove of lovingly written recipes by a world famous cook with a huge following is just what I had been looking for.
Now to get back to my kitchen and then to eat!

Recipes that really expand our dining experience. They are easy to follow and our guests really enjoyed the aromas and flavors.

I'm sure it's a great book of parsi recipes, being a parsi i instantly recognize some of our favorites. But the kindle edition feels scanned. There's no table of contents so it's impossible to navigate to a recipe, and the pictures are not formatted so they're either vertical or too small. A table of contents does appear in the book (not in the left swipe menu line is supposed too) but it's not click able and serves as a rough guide.
Hope the kindle edition can be fixed soon.

I was awaiting this recipe book when it was on preorder.
It's a lovely book with great pics. Have tried 3 dishes and all were very easy to follow and made delicious dishes. It's a book I know I will be using a lot when cooking Parsi food. Definitely recommend it. 😊

book arrived damaged so I returned it to Amazon.
IF the book had arrived in good condition I probably would have returned it anyway because there were not very many recipes
and no instructions for making Dhansak spice from scratch. this dhansak spice mix is not available in America.

A quite slim, paperback volume that left me feeling disappointed. Introductory volumes about ethnic cuisines would be much enhanced with an explanation of the religion, if it had an influence on the cuisine and why they were expelled from Persia and come to settle in Gujarat.
Lovely photographs, but often the photo of the dish is on a preceding page and the recipe and notes follow on subsequent pages. The layout needs to be considerable improved. There are several ingredients that need explanation. What is "jaggery"? A lot of recipes call for green chilies, with little guidance as to what kind of chili is recommended or suggested. Other spices mixtures are called for, off hand, without much explanation. A following section giving spice mixture recipes and guidance into chutney, pickle and condiments would make the cookbook much more useful.
I was most disappointed in finding that a "brown rice" recipe did not include caramelized onions as had been hinted at but omitted from the recipe but did included caramelized sugar. I'm not sure it's a mistake but feels like it is.

Very Disappointed with the Kindle copy
Reviewed in India on August 11, 2020
The Kindle copy has very small fonts which is difficult to read, does not allow the size of fonts to be increased.
I sync the copy with Kindle on my Mac, It only shows the Cover , rest all pages are blank.
Buyers be careful with Kindle download

Great Parsi Food - Poor Kindle Layout
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on August 16, 2017
I made the Tumtumta Jhinga - spicy prawns, outstanding.
Would have given the 5 stars but for the layout of the book, graphics and title overlaying the text making it near impossible to read in some sections, gives the book the feel of being thrown together for the Kindle.
Great recipes perhaps need a little more thought in layout as some recipes state additional requirements as an after thought, poor kindle presentation publisher should revise and do the layout properly.
