It's been over a year since the book released and its still an item that I treasure and simply adore looking at. It really was worth the retail price to me considering there are some great concepts and art pieces for the Spyro Reignited Trilogy game. It's a fantastic addition to those who have played the games or just like the art styles!
This would make the perfect gift in my opinion!

Given the sheer imaginative scope that came with the Spyro reignited trilogy, it goes without saying that there would have been a lot of early concepts and designs that either changed over time, or never saw their way into the final product - Designs and concepts which would have been at home in a book such as this. Where conceptual pieces could fill and bring life to a page, valuable space is instead taken up either by oversized (and often pointless) quotes, or pages full of text with no images to give credence to what is being described.
The direction taken with this book is confusing, the gaming and art industry has seen phenomenal success with the likes of The Art of Metal Gear Solid, The Legend of Zelda, Breath of the Wild - Creating a Champion, and the aforementioned The Art of Cuphead, and to see a fantastical, creative world such as Spyro's be so ill-explored feels genuinely disappointing. Alas, what we're left with is a book which, whilst visually impressive, really only collates images which are just as easily sought online. A missed opportunity for sure.
Very few characters, Spyro of course being one of them, have a couple of pages or more dedicated to their concept art and the ideas behind them. Most like Ripto (who is a popular villain) only gets one page of their finished design with a brief description. Some with vague descriptions behind their designs. I would have liked to see more concept art or test sketches of these characters. I recently bought the Cuphead art book and it had far more detail and concept art on their characters. Another issue is double spread pages with huge blocks of black text on dark purple. It was just hard to read.
Buy it if you're a fan who loves the stunning artwork but so much not if you want to see character or level concept art and in depth development of your favourite parts of the games.

I will admit about 16 art pictures in this book have been posted on the internet for free by the people who made the art (mostly on twitter) you might of seen them already. But don't worry there is tons more art that is only in this book only i have yet to see anywhere else.
One last thing its long 240 pages so yeah it is quite bulky in size and is quite wide.
Such a beautiful book, filled with landscape concepts and character concepts, and at the end of the book they even have all the drawings at the credits blown up in full to look at they are amazing.
Very beautiful book, can't wait for Crash to come out in October gonna get that concept are book next <3
