The introduction to "Art of Stress-free Living" starts with a quote by Dr. Redford Williams, Duke University: "Diet and exercise alone are like a two-legged stool. It's more stable with the third leg, stress management." However, Dr. Dhillon goes even further that for healthy heart stress management is even more important than weight control and lower cholesterol. He observes that his stressed friends who were not overweight, had normal cholesterol ended up with bypass surgery, whereas those who are overweight but with low stress level did not need bypass surgery so far (in their mid-sixties now). He provides various studies and statistics on "high cost of stress" in terms of health as well as wealth. The studies show sixty to 90 percent of all doctor visits involve stress-related complaints.

The book consists of six chapters each representing an independent topic: chapter 1, Mind-Body Connection; Chapter 2, Stress Management Approaches; Chapter 3, Mental Relaxation Approaches to Stress; Chapter 4, How Breathing Affects Stress; Chapter 5, The Value of Spiritual Living; Chapter 6, The Power of Now: Zen Buddhism Approach. The chapters precede by introduction, and are followed by Glossary, References, Notes, and Information 'About the Author'.

"Art of Stress-free Living" presents a totally fresh approach to "stress-free living" in which Dr. Dhillon uses his knowledge of science from the West, and yoga, breathing and spirituality from the East (as done in his other dozen books). His unique qualifications include advanced degree in life sciences and molecular biology from Yale University in the West, and his earlier education and experience with yoga, breathing and spirituality from the East.

For one thing, even though I have been into natural health all of my life,(I'm 80!) I was deeply surprised after reading Dr Dhillon's book, how much I still have to learn..But I will not be giving his secrets away, you all will have to buy this wonderful book and find out for your selves..it might even save you a trip to the doctors, and as Martha would say "That's a good thing!"

This book is horrible and hoaxy even for its hoaxy-natural-health bs genre. All the testimonials are in the author's narrative, both in the book and here on Amazon. Everything is horridly presented in the same stupid tone, like someone threw up a bunch of index cards from recycled 70's hoax books. This is awful. Not only is it awful, but the author has resorted to making accounts on Amazon to review it and continues to make fake testimonials. And she/he has botted the hell out of social media sites. Why Pinterest hasn't forbidden linking back to this page, I do not know. Everyone that has picked this book up agrees that no scientist or even a learned person would ever try to recommend any of this. Advanced degeree, his bio says? Like high school degree? Maybe.

I had been to almost all the self-help programs. Sudarshan kriya, kundalini yoga, wellness workshops ... I did spend time at Buddhist retreat and week-long workshops. I was not concerned about the cost because I wanted results. I was not aware that there is a book which includes everything one can imagine about stress-free living, and includes both Eastern and Western techniques. You can pick and choose what suits you. It's very easy to follow step by step explanation to various techniques. My favorite is meditation tied up with breathing, and Power of Now based on Zen Buddhism approach.

This guide convinced me that for healthy heart stress management is even more important than weight control and lowering cholesterol. You can't go wrong with trying ancient wisdom backed up by solid science. Another thing, this author always gives the reference about the source whether it is another book or scientific journal. This gives credibility, if anyone cares to check it. That's what have attracted me to this author and his books..
