“It’s a great relief to me to know that I can actually be creative and be happy at the same time.”
—James W. Hall
“A life of creativity is a life of risk. It is a life of going beyond your ordinary, of embracing the odyssey, of leaving your familiar, of trying to make a contribution.”
“Art is simply a result of expression during right feeling.… Any material will do. After all, the object is not to make art, but to be in the wonderful state which makes art inevitable.”
About the Author
Roderick MacIver founded Heron Dance in 1995 to celebrate the seeker's journey and the spirit and beauty of all that is wild. His words and his watercolors are inspired by a love of wild places and the peace and rhythm he finds there. Roderick's watercolors are the perfect medium to express his reverence for nature, reflecting a simple flow and simplicity. Born in Canada, Rod currently splits his time between Heron Dance Press in Vermont and his studio in New York's Adirondacks.

The question I have--and it might just be a misprint in only my copy--does anybody have the first 5 paragraphs of the text printed twice (on pages 3 and 4). Those ARE beautiful and deeply wise paragraphs...and I don't mind reading them twice (in fact I have been returning to them again and again)...but I would not want to miss other 5 paragraphs which the author might have intended there.
This book brings together the essays of the author, the wisdom of great thinkers, the beauty of MacIver's Art, and the joy of creativity as a way of life. In a word, this book is a TREASURE!~
This is a short book that you read quickly. It is a long and deep book- you'll never quite get the same ideas from each time you read it, and this book is one you will want to go back to often.
