About the Author
Mikael Lindnord is the author of the books Arthur and its follow-up Rescue Dog Tales. Arthur is soon to be made into a major motion picture starring Mark Wahlberg. When he's not writing books, Lindnord is an adventure racer, race planner, and motivational speaker. A former aspiring professional hockey player, today he travels the world as an adventure racer. When not racing he lives with his wife, children, and, of course, his dog Arthur.
Arthur is a mongrel from somewhere in Ecuador. He likes meatballs, long runs with Mikael, and relaxing with his family in Sweden.

Well into this particular race and well into the book, a stray dog appears and bonds with Lindnord. The dog named Arthur by Lindnord attaches himself to him and won't leave no matter how hard the going gets, and that's where the story takes off. This isn't the book for those looking for a great literary read. The story starts off slowly and some of the details are repetitive and of interest only to others in extreme sports. Animal lovers, however, especially dog lovers, will be drawn to Arthur's story. Those who love extreme sports will also appreciate the book.
I love animals and am an advocate, so all stories about dogs, cats et al, are rapidly reaching my kindle. Arthur is a keeper and I am so happy that he is safe and loved in Sweden with his forever family.
I learned so much about extreme adventure racing; the ones who compete in this sport; and how they prepare mentally and physically. One word barely sums it up-astonishing. That word also applies to Arthur.
This is a feel good book that details the many challenges faced when bringing a dog from one country to another. It takes an international village. So many people appeared and helped at the exact right time.
I've recommended it to all my dog loving friends.

There is also an excellent 'supporting cast' of Mikael's team mates, his wife & children, individuals who helped along the way, & people all over the world who have followed this remarkable story.
This is a fine antidote to cynicism when the daily news is unremittingly bad & sad.
One of those books which when taken up is extremely difficult to put down.
It's a truly moving & heartwarming tale amply illustrating the wonderful power of kindness. A little kindness goes a very long way - in this case, all the way from Ecuador to Sweden, about 10,000 km.
