That said I have been really thrown off kilter on the romance bits...enough so to interrupt the story's flow & not really be able to buy into the present love interest, Warner.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with him. He totally seems lust worthy....but.
But her very slow burn yet incredibly hot relationship with Desmond was completely unaddressed, there has been no real resolution. I totally get the whole he killed her sister disaster that still is just hanging there😕 How he did it was completely, epically messed up. But the truth is it had to happen, so we have this broken, tragic relationship that was just abandoned. Neither has tried to fix it or even really end it....it's all just been set aside. Desmond is being a douchebag & she just avoids. Not sure if they could get past things, but their relationship felt like it had sooo much potential & then nothing. The next thing we know she is throwing herself at the new dragon in the story & is calling him her boyfriend awfully quickly. Not to mention he jumped onboard the Jade train pretty quick, even though he is supposedly ,at the beginning, as prejudiced against her 1/2 breed status as most of the other dragons...as a rebound relationship he is a good choice I guess? I dunno I just have a hard time buying into their apparent devotion to each other while so much remains unresolved.
...then there is the whole Kett thing.
Will be interesting to see what happens next, just really hope that there is more of a closure on Desmond. He was so much a part of the story at the beginning then he was just gone. Miss Kandy! Bummed because it sounds like she is going to be pulled into the Oracle series.
Not sure where hunting down the dragon killing objects is a good idea...especially now that the dragons have added 'Dragonslayer' to Jades title? 😶
...& what's with Jades dad swooping in to rescue crazy dragon chick?! Sooo don't get that!
Yep! Still enjoying the story overall😉
The writing is very good. It is tight and very descriptive. It has depth and conveys more than a surface story. Savor the language.
I would recommend this series to all urban fantasy readers who like a strong, feminist main character. What's not to love with an alchemist, werewolf, vampire, dragon, witches, sorcerer and lots of cupcakes.
