Artisan Tropic Sea Salt Plantain Chips are a taste of the tropics. They provide the perfect crunch for a healthy snack or side dish. Because of the long strip cut they have, they are perfect for dipping in guacamole or salsa. And no worries, we use Sea Salt to provide you with more beneficial minerals! Plantains are a type of resistant starch, which is a type of starch that is not digested in the stomach or small intestine, reaching the colon intact. Thus, it "resists" digestion. This explains why we do not see spikes in either blood glucose or insulin after eating RS.
Our goal is to keep the online nutrition information up-to-date and accurate. However, we always recommend that you check the labels, or call the manufacturer, for the most up-to-date ingredient and nutritional information.

Why knock off a star? Because of the price. It's insane. Do yourself a favor and get Inka Chips - they have the same ingredients (plantain chips, red palm oil and salt) and cost much less. Most healthier grocery stores (like Sprouts) carry them for around $2-3 per bag. And I will let you in on a secret...if you have a Big Lots store in your area, you can get them for $1 a bag!
I thought the texture was good. These were crunchy and not stale, but a little thicker than a potato chip (makes sense -- these have relatively more fiber and less starch than a potato, plus much of what starch they do have is "resistant," so good for feeding gut bacteria and unlikely to cause insulin spikes). They did kind of break apart during transit, unfortunately.
I love how simple the ingredients list is -- plantains, palm oil, salt. These are vegan, gluten free, non-GMO, and produced in a nut-free facility, if you have any dietary restrictions.
Kind of high in calories, but most plantain chips are. Overall, a tasty alternative to potato chips with some good nutritional qualities thrown in.
The beautiful strips I was expecting.
Taste was great, but I could not use them for the appetizer they were intended for.
Not a product that ships well apparently
