However, consider, that regardless, this is a two-way street, hence a balance ought to be achieved between the realities of both, so that they can support each other’s strengths.
Carole Brecht has refreshingly delved into the word of caregiving and effectively dispelled the stereotypical, preconceived judgements surrounding the practice of caring for a person living with dementia. She has managed to inject empathy, compassion, humour, and humanity through her letters and her insightful attitude, all wrapped up in a beautifully stimulating and colourful package.
She has provided an impetus to developing an increased open mindedness in the provision of encounters that encourage positive ageing, thus respecting meaningful experiences based on deferential reciprocity.
Demonstrating another valuable way forward in the provision of person centred dementia care and preservation of personhood.
Delightful and touching. I laughed and cried my way through this divine book.

Throughout the book, Carole shares stories from her own caregiving experience, letters of encouragement for the reader, and illustrations in the form of Zentangle art. Inspiring caregivers to find a creative outlet is one of many ways that Carole encourages readers to make time to care for themselves. This would be a perfect gift and a must-read for caregivers everywhere!
I thought Carole offered some good advice, from the practical such as making priority lists to the philosophical, such as considering how you start your day as your perception will determine how you will carry yourself.
I highly recommend this read to everyone at all levels and stages of caregiving. Carole's words have removed a lot of the daunting wariness and fears I have about the job ahead of me and helped me put things into the perspective of a labor of love as opposed to a 'job'.
The zen tangle artwork is lovely and soothing and provided at just the perfect intervals as you read through her letters.
