This particular battery is very special. Since it is "Fully Decoded" it contains electronics that communicate with Canon cameras and chargers identically to the Canon OEM batteries and it literally cost 1/2 of what the Canon batteries sell for. The in-camera battery life indicator works perfectly and there are never any messages from the camera indicating it is an unsupported battery. I have only had these batteries (I bought 2) for a couple week so I can't comment as to longevity or battery life, but this brand has been around a while and has made a good name for itself.

Hestitate to give a full 5 stars because 3rd party batteries sometimes die prematurely (fail to hold charge). I did have 1 third party Sony battery that outlasted the OEM - but another from the same brand did not, and that is my general experience.
BUT the excellent thing is that the battery indicator seems to work. There are other batteries that claim to be decoded and show battery level - most of these decode as DR-E18. The DR-E18 is a Canon plug-in adapter and NEVER shows battery level other than full. This battery also charges in the OEM charger and in the body via USB charging. I bought and returned one of the other 3rd party LP-E17 that did none of the above.
Using in a Canon R8, and once the first segment goes dark the battery will be rapidly drained in minutes shooting 4K video. But noticed similar with the OEM battery. Shooting 1080p is reasonable (not great). Shooting stills all day is no problem for me (not a burst shooter). Not sure how capacity compares to OEM, but in the same ballpark (though note earlier concern about 3rd party dying sooner). Just got the camera so both OEM and this battery are only weeks old. But given the undersized battery wanted to get a spare right away.
A last caution is that maybe only my imagination - but the LED charge light negotiation for this battery seems slower than the OEM battery in the OEM charger. As long as the battery indicator keeps working that should be OK. 3rd party chargers are inexpensive and seem to charge both 3rd party and OEM batteries.

So , I had an issue with 1 of the batteries that I bought a couple months ago. Nice replacement Canon batteries but unfortunately I must have received a bad battery. I understand that thing happen on rare occasions. Amazon would not do anything to help me BUT the seller stepped in and made things right. Great customer service!!!! First, let me say, I think this does last as long as the battery from Canon may be longer, but I have noticed that it will not charge in the Canon charger. I thought it was defective, but I tried it on a third-party charger and it works fine. Just be aware. Good battery though.

I haven't used it other than confirming battery life on the screen. It doesn't charge on the factory canon charger. So it's a waste unless you buy a charger kit. Lesser non decoded batteries come as a kit, but this is only sold individually.
