- Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2015Superb articulation by an experienced and reflective diplomat of why statecraft and diplomacy is a crucial element of national power and why its role is essential in the search for a peaceful international order. The insight into the role of the diplomat and the measures employed in statecraft to resolve disputes is an important element in the understanding of today's world conflicts and anyone interested in the resolution of these conflicts and the activities of our national diplomats should read this book. The advantages inherent in the conduct of international diplomacy shows why the nuclear arms treaty with Iran is essential to the prospects of peace in the middle east. I wish I had been able to read this book as an undergraduate as the information contained within is also applicable to many aspects of living. Every citizen should read this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 9, 2020Disregard the bad reviewers, they have no idea what they're talking about. This book is an absolute gold mine...IF you have the eyes to see it. It will give you the keys to the kingdom!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 5, 2016I use this book in my Ethics course, to help students understand office politics. If my students don't understand office politics and how to maneuver, they might be drawn into unethical behavior. The book is also important for new faculty members who want to get along, while honoring other faculty members.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2006This book is a excellent introduction for people into diplomacy and statecraft. In its brief pages, you learn all the definitions, such as the functions of a embassy or a consulate, the way to conduct state relations, the skills for diplomacy, a topic about Intelligence and much more.
Now I understand why sometimes an ambassador is call for consultation!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2002Very interesting, but really a dictionary that assumes alot of foreign policy knowlege. I bought this is the hopes that it would be a great intro to foreign policy book and was dissappointed. Nonetheless, it will make a good reference book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 21, 2017Poorly written and contains little useful information. Author's tone is braggadocios.
