Editorial Reviews

20101 debut from this trio featuring Ben Harper, Dhani Harrison (George's son) and Joseph Arthur. The trio formed in early 2010 and wasted little time before laying down tracks for what would become As I Call You Down. Ben Harper is no stranger to the music world. Having met FOM band-mate Dhani Harrison while skating, the two were unaware of each other's background in the industry for months. Once realized, collaborating seemed to make perfect sense and thus Fistful Of Mercy was formed instantly. Written, produced and recorded in Harper's studio, As I Call You Down is comprised of nine songs complete with soulful harmonies and blues-infused folk guitar seamlessly blended with an indie rock backbone. As I Call You Down effortlessly crosses through genre defining borders and is sure to please fans of both Ben Harper and Dhani Harrison's previous work, while welcoming new listeners with open arms.

This Vinyl Record comes with a dropcard with a code for a download of the digital version of the album. The sound is crystal clear and sounds live coming from my record player speakers. All of the songs are very good with my favorites being "In Vain or True" and "Restore Me". Dhani Harrison, Ben Harper, and Joesph Arthur make for a great supergroup which (to me) is like Dhani's own version of The Traveling Wilburys. Overall very amazing album, would recommend to anyone.

When I first listened to this album I was honestly totally turned off. It might've been the relentless press about how it was made in three days, the simple lyrics, the fact it falls short of being the sum of its impressive parts... something about it bugged me. Upon repeated listens though, I've really turned to enjoy it.

The more you listen to it the more you get into it. If you happen to get to see them live, then you totally end up loving it. Seriously, while I fully think if you like folky/bluesy/laid back stoner music, this is the album for you, I wholly think everyone should see them live, because that's really where their strengths are. Absolutely amazing shows that really illustrate how great this band can, and will be.

A very good first album though...I think the faults are more in how good it =could= be vs any real legitimate flaws.

One word to the wise, most of the album doesn't sound like the title track. I think that is one of the more nuanced tracks on the album.

Urgh, I hate that this sounds negative, because it's truly not. It's a great album, it is. It just takes a little getting used to.

I have been listening to this CD nonstop since it came in the mail. The music is fantastic and the boy's harmonies are on spot. This is an album that you can listen to over and over again without getting bored. Great job guys!

This album (yes, I am old) is just superb! I love every track, especially "Father's Son," "Fistful of Mercy," and "Things Go Round." I have not been able to stop listening to it since I downloaded my tracks yesterday. These three gifted fellows are sublime when combined together, and to think that they wrote all this in 3 days is just amazing! I love that it is acoustic, with great violin added, and it has a folk rock vibe with overtones of country and blues...(it's uncategorizable, really), somewhat reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young & Gram Parsons, with the sound of Harrison added in, which is beautiful, of course, since he sounds so much like George. Sort of like 60's music with a modern vibe. Such a surprise that I stumbled on this; so happy to hear some great new music being laid down. I encourage everyone to buy this if that sounds interesting to you!

Cool cool. George Harrison's son Dhani and Ben Harper sound great together. The songs are catchy, the playing is crisp and carries you along and the singing is awesome. A very satisfying release. I hope they do more in the future.

I bought the new Fistful of Mercy album, As I Call You Dowm, not knowing any of the songs on the disc, or anything about the band, except that it was by George Harrison's Son, Dahni Harrison. This CD now is one of my favorites, and I know EVERY song on it, and EVERYTHING about the band! This album contains a variety of music, from the pop/bluegrass single, Father's Son, to the "Soft Nirvana" hit, Fistful of Mercy, to the Amazing guitar solo of 30 Bones. This album has it all!! I really enjoy this album, and I highly recomend it!
