Product Description

Introducing the Gopher. The handy helper that reaches so you don?t have to. Use it for reaching up high, or for picking up down low. In the laundry room it?s the best, it?ll get that odd sock in the impossible to reach area. Any object big or small, it grabs, fits and lifts them all. If you can't get to it then the Gopher is great! Grip and lift in one easy motion. With just one finger the Gopher locks on so you can pick up, take out and put back without any effort. The secret is the suction action combined with the easy locking handle that gives you the power to reach, without stretching or bending. Under the bed or under the sink just squeeze and retrieve with one simple step. It picks up what you don?t want to touch. It?s much safer than a chair. Use it outside in the yard; it takes the bending and reaching out of your daily chores.

I had an original set of Deluxe Gophers I bought directly off the infomercial about five years ago. They were sturdy, well-designed and could easily pick up a two-to-five pound object with no problem. Most importantly, the suction cups were FLEXIBLE, but also firm enough to grip tightly. They were perfect for lightbulbs, if that gives you any idea of what I'm talking about here.

Unfortunately, the screw holding one suction cup finally "stripped" (after using it about a hundred times a day, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner) and I couldn't find replacement cups anywhere.

Amazon shows three different places to get these, and these particular ones, at $3.99, seem like a great deal. Trust me, they're not. The cups are not flexible, the cable from the handle to the ends rubs against the sharp end of the square aluminum shaft (that puppy isn't going to last a week) and the locking mechanism DOES NOT WORK! I got two pair, and they're both the same.

All the plastic fittings are blue, rather than red, and it doesn't say "Deluxe Gopher" anywhere on them (unlike the original, where it is prominantly displayed on the handle and etched on the metal "arms" at the end).

These are counterfeit. Don't buy them, or if you're still tempted by the price, just throw four bucks out the window and use the postage to go to BarStuck's and treat yourself to a fancy-schmancy coffee.

I got one after a surgery.

It was invaluable for picking up things that were on the floor, or up high on a shelf.

Deluxe folding model, great for traveling.

Gopher has suction cups that are probably better than the miniature claw type grabber units sold in Walgreen's (in the cane/walker dept).

I gave my grabber to an elder family member and watched them pick up the smallest of pills that they had dropped on the floor.

So the gopher's suction cup design is great for picking up very small items.

Big lots previously carried a wanna-be gopher, with the movable trigger on the back (against the palm of your hand) vs the opposite setup on the gopher. Probably to avoid copyright infringement or such.

Big lot's version was only $3.99 and it was quite comparable.

For picking up small, lightweight items, it's great.

For picking up, or taking down items weighing over 5 lbs, I wouldn't risk it.

The ends are spring steel and with the rubber cups, you get a sort of "tensioned-grabbing" of the item.

Not a solid "clamping" like a wrench.

If an item weighs too much, it'll slip out of the grip of the rubber cups.

I think sales would be great for a bigger, heavier, "Industrial" version of this device. Something that could pick up like 15-20 lbs and which could maintain a fixed amount of tension on an item.

I have to give it 2 thumbs up, after seeing someone use mine to pick up pills that were the size of a "BB" (like used in BB guns).

Vedant Gifts is selling a CHEAP KNOCK OFF not the ORIGINAL GOPHER. This is a great item but you must buy the ORIGINAL GOPHER from a TRUSTED seller on Amazon.com. DO NOT BUY A CHEAP KNOCK OFF FROM Vedant Gifts. They are RIPPING CUSTOMERS OFF by selling a CHEAP KNOCK.

Wondering WHY Amazon hasn't stepped in. Maybe because they are busy making too much money on other products. DO SOMETHING AMAZON. STOP THESE CON ARTISTS.

We have had three of these; they always break at the bend. Buy a non-bending one instead--they are more durable.

I've had two of these, and both broke in exactly the same place. The screws strip out of the suction cups, and then the product is worthless. I wouldn't buy another one.

These have been a part of my household since they were first marketed. During that time the product runs have changed the rubber on the pads some. They have harder and less pliable. I have used other similarly designed tools, but the Gopher's pads are still the best, The pads are able to pick up very tiny pieces of matter. I use them for garden and yard work primarily ranging from setting bulbs to pick-up. I always have on with me on the riding mower and they are great for clearing the mow pathway. Eventually, one has to retighten the pads by hands due to wear. They do carry over 5 lbs.. I have broken several, but repaired the joint by putting supports on each side and then taping them. On the farm, they are used for harvesting fruit, and pick-up of sticks, fruit, hedge-apples, walnuts, corn cobs and husks, and waste. Inside, they are great for reaching and pick-up, especially small toys. I personally think they should be included in any disaster package due to their savings of the lower back system and preventing strain. I have learned to alternate hands after a sequence of 25 to 100 grasps. Some days over 1500 items are picked up and placed into a receptacle . They are ideal for a person in the mid sized adult range 5'3-5'8 as they do not require leaning over then and match arm stretch if desiring to grasp in the other hand what has been picked up.

any leaning over. They also match arm stretch if desiring to hold what is picked up.
