With Lois's wedding to Dr. Dave nearing, Mrs. Dave and a 'network of silver-haired villains' set out to sabotage the festivities. The mysterious Nikki La Porte, hired by Mrs. Dave to stop the marriage from happening, arrives at the Sussman Motor Lodge and soon has Dr. Dave convinced that she is Diane Francis, a flame from his past. Ultimately, the plot is uncovered, the happy couple is wed, Carl is reunited with his dog Monster, and, in a flash-forward, we see that Ginger becomes a successful writer and marries her neighbor, Darren Patterson.
"Here comes the bride" as Lois Foutley marries Dr. Dave in this story spanning three episodes from Nickelodeon's animated television series As Told by Ginger. The smartly written series stars a reflective high school teen trying to make her way through adolescence while offering coming-of-age insights. In this tale, her mother's wedding day approaches and as Ginger's to-do list grows, so do her doubts about love and commitment. Meanwhile, a sinister plot of wedding sabotage is underway by a trio of brazen broads. Ginger's brother, Carl, and his hilarious friend, Hoodsey, go undercover to foil the saboteurs' scheme, while slinging playful one-liners in perfectly timed comic relief. Amid the cartoon's lightness is a sophisticated script that will appeal not only to preteens but to parents with snippets such as "hurl yourself headfirst into this crazy world." Love triumphs in a sweet-but-not-sappy ending, leaving viewers with the subtle, significant message that sometimes the best things in life require a leap of faith. (Ages 8 and older) --Lynn Gibson
