But there is so much more to it than that. Gary Val Tenuta has crafted a remarkable, riveting story that is almost impossible to stop reading. This one doesn't just hook you in, it throttles you with a terrifying, plausible supernatural concept rooted in a fantastic inspiration and hurtles you along mercilessly with a breathless plot that just won't quit. On top of all that, the dialogue is as natural as it comes and every character is physically and emotionally developed to living, breathing perfection. I cared deeply for every one of these people (while rooting for Crowley's ultimate demise). There are dark secrets, startling revelations, personal sacrifices and an ending you won't see coming. Tenuta paces the book cleverly, alternating between protagonist and antagonist with rare skill, and achieves a level of tension that is unbearably delicious. If I may indulge in some review cliches, I'll add that this is one nail-biting, hair-raising, edge-of-your seat supernatural thriller that rivals the best I've ever read by Stephen King, Peter Straub, or Dean Koontz. Hell, Clive Barker would be proud of this one. Yes, it's that good.
Hungry for a supernatural thriller that'll rock your world? This is the one, folks. It passed my ultimate test for all books I consider fantastic reads: I wished I had written it myself and I was sorry to see it end. Enjoy!
The story weaves effortlessly back and forth between the work of the detectives and the FBI, and an enigmatic rock star and his death-metal band Mega Therion, as a serial killer unleashes an intense rage upon members of the priesthood. Demonic forces rise as practitioners of dark magick summon them forth. The story is descriptive, unforgiving, and disturbing, as it races along a perilous course to a shocking ending.
Ash: Return of the Beast will appeal to anyone with a fascination with the occult, the paranormal, murder mysteries and police procedurals. The colorful main characters, with deep secrets of their own, bring the reader along on a macabre journey that spirals outwards to all kinds of intriguing places. From rock 'n roll to the very depths of the underworld itself, Ash is a wild ride into a shadow world you won't soon forget. Brilliantly conceived and executed - I couldn't put it down!

Kane is your average run of the mill totally left-brained person with a secret. He knows personally that God doesn't answer your prayers. He has a pretty normal life, with a normal crime rate, with your typically normal criminals. Then a murder spree begins. At first, they seem like random killings until a pattern begins to emerge. Things don't add up and an FBI agent is suddenly assigned to the case, from a branch he not only never heard of but can't pronounce. To make matters worse, Ravenwood is educated in things he never knew existed and she is sexy as hell.
Ravenwood is definitely not all that she seems and goes out of her way to not try and push her ideas and theories on Kane. She is just not sure he can handle it. Time just isn't on their side in this endeavor. They need to discover the motives of this killer and fast. Because if what Ravenwood suspects is going on, she is literally going to have to save the world.
I truly can't say enough good things about this book. It was action packed, well explained, and even someone who knew nothing about Aleister Crowley would be able to follow the book right along. I was hooked by the end of the first chapter and literally unwilling to put it down! This is my first tangle with this author, but I assure you that it won't be my last! Excellent Reading!!
