Somewhere after the first act of the book, our heroine became someone who I didn't believe in, the hero became a crazy person and the surrounding family just seemed like a bunch of enablers. For a book that I really captured me on page 1, it just dwindeled into an unrecognizable mosh of random incidents, random reactions and too much detail. Oh, and the ending seemed just to come out of nowhere, almost like it was from a whole different book.
So no thank you, and I'm not sure I can trust this author to get me through another one of her novels.
These two people have been hurt in one of the worst ways imaginable by people they loved and trusted. They thought of another relationship to either of them just wasn't in the cards. Dr. West was living in a darker world since he lost his wife and Marin brought color to his world. He needed to learn to live again and the sassy Marin challenged him at every turn. I loved that she didn't take any crap from him and called him on things he needed to move past. He is older than she is, but that added to the story for me. Marin is extremely protective of Grey's kids, even though she had never been around kids much. I loved watching her develop a great relationship with them.
This story did have me pulling my hair out at times at Grey's stubborness to moving on. But in the end, I absolutely fell head of heals in love with him. This story was well told and emotional. Great read!
From Ashes To Flames by A.M. Hargrove is the first book in the new series: A West Brothers Novel .
Marin McLain and Greydon West's story made me laugh, made me ugly cry and gave me hope.
Marin has finished college and works at her dream job. Her boyfriend loves her and life is good - not. Because in the blink of an eye everything comes crashing down on her. Lonely and depressed she's about to give up when her parents strongly encourage her to become a nanny.
Dr. Greydon West is a very successful specialist and doctor. His work is his life and not much else counts. He neglects his children and is too happy to burden his new nanny with the care for them. But he doesn't know what he's in for with sassy Marin.
Both are broken people, damaged through past relationships. But slowly, very slowly they begin to live again.
From Ashes To Flames is a beautiful story, extremely well written anbd with characters I easily could connect with. I love the writing and the words, the story and the characters. I could feel their emotions, their struggle and the love in the words.
I recommend the book and can't wait to see which brother gets his book next.

If you’re a fan of single dad romances and, like me, you loved A.M. Hargrove’s ‘For The Love of English’ then you MUST read this!!
From Ashes To Flames has sent me on an emotional roller coaster of a ride. And what a ride! The fast paced plot had me hooked from the beginning and kept on the edge of my seat for most of the time, when I wasn't chuckling to myself. One hilarious scene in particular had me laughing so out loud so hard. You can always rely on this author to add her quirky sense of humour to her books. Pure genius!
I love a strong female lead who isn’t afraid to say what she’s thinking and Marin McLain was all that and more. With her rainbow coloured hair, piercings and tattoos and sassy mouth Dr. Greydon West didn’t know what had hit him. He'd definitely met his match with Marin.
Although Grey seemed quite distant and unfeeling at the start I adored that hot, sexy doctor *sighs*. Did I mention that he was hot?
I did feel for Grey over what he went through but at one point I did want to grab him by the shoulders to shake some sense into him and shout, ‘GET A GRIP, MAN!! LOOK WHAT YOU’RE DOING!!!!’
Six year old Kinsley TOTALLY stole the show. She turned my heart to mush with her Irish step-dancing and her ‘clicky shoes’.
From Ashes To Flames was a definite 'Goldilocks' read for me...just right.
It had just the right amount of humour, angst, drama, tension and sizzling, hot passion. Oh, and the surprise at the end was simply perfect!
I know I’m not doing this book the justice it deserves but trust me, this is one you need on your kindle. Go #1Click the hell out of this, I can't recommend it enough!!
Usually I’m not a huge fan of age difference in a book but I didn’t mind it in this case because both characters were old enough for my liking. I was also glad that it wasn't one of those daddy romances because although there was a 15-year age gap, the heroine was already 26 and mature enough to handle a 41 year old man so that I never had the feeling she would be too young for him or he too old for her.
I absolutely loved this book which started with a bang! There was so much going on right from the start which made it so easy to get sucked into the story and I kind of felt like being a teenager again, in love for the first time and making a fool out of myself because I was so giddy the whole time. I may have a huge crush on Greydon. =P
The love story was a slow burn for anyone who likes to know, but let me tell you, it's so worth it and absolutely perfect! There’s no way it would have been that good if the characters were head over heels in love from the beginning because the story definitely needed to take its time to unravel and for the H and h to be comfortable with each other. Especially since Grey had a lot to deal with until he could even acknowledge Marin’s presence.
I would have never expected the story to go this way because honestly, I feared that once the characters got it on with each other that it would be all lovey-dovey and soon get boring but WOW! My worries were for nothing because I was totally engrossed in this book from start to finish. Talk about unpredictable and unputdownable!! It's nothing like I've read before and definitely the best nanny book I've read so far.
Greydon was a broken hero who had to deal with a lot of pent-up anger and frustration which was totally understandable. I felt so very sorry for him because he would have needed to get everything off his chest before his world fell apart but life doesn’t always go the way you want it to. Anyway, I noticed that there were some people who didn't like the way Greydon treated Marin or how he acted at times. (Although he got his ass handed to him a time or two from her because she certainly was capable of handling a guy like him).
I'd just like to say that I had no problem with Grey’s behavior because although it must have been hard for Marin, I could totally relate to his feelings and how frustrated he was. He couldn’t act any differently because of the situation he was in and his actions were absolutely comprehensible. He was authentic and I loved to follow the process of his recovery. The author did an outstanding job with this story!!
My feelings were all over the place during this read and I wish I could have bottled up all those good emotions to have them at hand when I needed a dose of love.
I loved Marin's character. She was awesome and did what she thought was right and never let anyone dictate her anything she didn't want to do. I also loved her appearance because she wasn’t the typical beauty of the rich society with her colorful hair, piercings and tattoos.
The kids were the most well-behaved children and so adorable. Kinsley was so funny and a really clever and smart girl. She and Aaron were always good-humored and almost too good to be true.
I loved this book something fierce and can't wait for Grey's brothers’ stories!!
